G'day guys,
Well it has been some time since i have been a regular here and as the rego label on my windscreen tells me, it has been 6yrs since i last registered
my old girl.
And with the constant presure from fellow club members of Shoalhave VW Club, i finally pulled my bug apart with there help in preperation to replace
the pans and get some rust removed.
Here are some pics of the pull apart and i will keep everyone up to date with what is going on.
and this is how she sits now at a mates industrial shed, just waiting for me and a grinder to get into action.
looks like a good working bee
Yep the boys from Shoalhaven VW came out in force and were more then helpful in pulling the bug apart.
The added benefit of having my boss let me use the back of his motorcycle shop which included a full workshop and forklift was fantastic too.
My pans are on their way from brisbane as we speak and my welder is one of the best welders i have ever come across who also has veedub experience.
Once i get under the body and find out where all the cancer is, i will be happy. Then i can get on with getting her back on the road.
Welcome back and good to see. Gee it's easy when you have a heap of guys and all the tools (forklift) to make life easier
Kev
6 years is a long time between drinks!
good to see an old campaigner getting some love.
it kind of shocked me and my mates when we saw the rego sticker.
good to see you have dragged the old girl out again Lee . hope everything goes well with the rebuild
thanks Wayne, was great to see you at the Blast mate.
Take care mate.
Floor pans arrived today from Mick Motors up in Brisbane (less than 48hrs from door to door) and i dropped them off to my welder (Darren).
Darren will be starting on the job this weekend and be doing it inbetween some jobs for the national parks down here.
Once back from Darren i will be applying some POR15 to the pan whilst the body gets some cancer removed.
