Hi everyone. Any ideas about if I get charged tax on ordering from the USA (as it says international taxes not included). I'm trying to buy a VW
Bug Beetle Roof Rack Type 1. I just don't want to order it and then get stung by heaps of charges. I'm only looking overseas as it's much cheaper
and have very little budget.
Thoughts?
Cheers.
from my understanding it isnt illegal to purchase things but you may have to sign paperwork saying its not for resale. Prevents people from bringing
in large amounts of stuff and selling them without paying GST and all that.
You should be alright
i buy heaps of stuff from cip1 , just keep it under a grand not inc delivery and you should be fine
I'm with Klaus. Have ordered tons of stuff for my Bug's restoration from CIP1, Airkewld, WolfsburgWest etc. When you check out, you'll see the US Taxes are zero and keep it under AUS$1K then you'll be fine.
From what i know it isnt based on costs?
When we came back from america i sent a load of car parts seperatly with a total of about 2500, only thing we had to sign for was my aunts winter
clothing that she took over in the first place......
And if your item happens to be over 1 grand just ask if you can pay 999 and the remainder in a day when you credit card will allow it
You dont have to sign anything?, no one cares if you resell!
Just keep the order or the invoice!! Under $1000 and you pay nothing, no tax , nothing.
Just watch the shipping, the cheapest way from the states is USPS which is the yank postal service, dont use UPS , big rip off there
huh?
thats odd cause we had to sign for some reason.
Sorry your right there, noone cares if you re sell but you must pay import duties for certain things

I bought a heap of things well over a k closer to 2 k actually and when I got the goods I noticed the invoices and item values were written down at
ridiculous low numbers like a buk each. The seller values everything only for 300 bucking including shipping just so I didn't pay taxes, I didn't
even ask for this. How generous
It's just part of the customs lottery!
parts for classic vehicles are duty free
Thanks everyone! Your wisdom and experience is greatly appreciated. This is such an awesome site to learn from experienced veedubbers.
