Who is Klub VW ????
Brad - August 27th, 2003 at 02:45 PM

Ok I have a question for all you Klub VW guys ... whats the go ? Is Klub VW expanding all over the place ? I have noticed a few banners such as Klub VW Byron Bay, Klub VW Sunshine Coast, Klub VW Bayside.

So whats the story ???

Stanley - August 27th, 2003 at 03:10 PM

Klub VW is one club consisting of the different chapters eg Bayside, ByronBay, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Darling downs and Klub VW offroad.

The intention is just to get together and cruise when we can. Tazz could probably add more.

Hello Brad,
Yes we are a very quickly expanding Klub
full of fellow VW enthusists from all over
Qld & parts of NSW & growing.
Over the last 6 months we have developed into a large network of very
special people who have/wish to form strong friendships with others with the same things in common.
Lately we have branches now at Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Casino,
Bayside, Lismore, & possibly the Gold Coast. & growing.
As you are aware we try to keep in touch with others for tips/advise/contacts/support/business's/
networking etc to keep our luv of our volkswagens on the road.
I have met some truely amazing people within this network who not only are a delight to be around, own some pretty
awesome rides.
Anytime you would love to go on a cruise
with us Brad, you are indeed welcome.

Like Judy Said...
We are expanding!

Small chapters with the one AIM.
Get out and Cruize!
Meet new people.
And you dont have to be in our Klub to come to our events.
Its open to all people.
We openly support all vw events including Other Club's activities.

Tazz.

Thook - August 27th, 2003 at 08:56 PM

Well, all you have to do is ring Tazz or Alec and ask if you can join & maybe start up a chapter called Klub VW Coffs Harbour........then youask fellow VWer's in your area if they would also like to join....pretty soon you'll have a few members then its just a matter of organising a cruise to a location every likes.....& having a chat about the next event/cruise/meeting/whatever there...

Not all the chapters have 2 or more people & not all the chapters hold monthly meetings...

Its that simple..:D

Tazz - August 27th, 2003 at 08:59 PM

Zackly What the Lovely Thook said!:kiss
Give me a ring and we can see what we can do!

Shani - August 27th, 2003 at 10:11 PM

Klub VW Sunshine Coast just had our first meeting and gained 4 new members.

We'd like to welcome Simon and Karen, Rick and Steph to the Klub. Both with Kombis.
Had a great evening! :thumb

Build it and they shall come....

or

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.....

:D

Brad - August 28th, 2003 at 04:43 AM

so it is sort of like an Aussieveedubbers.com cruise would be, just a group of people getting togeather without getting bogged down in all the insurance crap and the likes.

Cool I guessed it maybe something like that.

Have a question for Tazz and Alec or anyone else in the know. Klub VW Darling Downs offers their club members concessional rego, do members of other branches and states get thsi option as well ? If so how does NSW go ??

Cheers,

Stanley - August 28th, 2003 at 06:32 AM

Brad the club itself doesn't offer concessional rego this is offered by the t'port dep't however you must satisfy certain criteria ie car must be 30 years old or more you must be in a car club and you must abide by certain restrictions placed on the driving of your car. ie no more than 15 km from home whilst "testing" unless you can prove your going to an approved repairer. No restriction if involved in a club run.

I thought you were supposed to display a rego plate that was an 's' plate i think but they let me keep my original plate which means the only visible difference is a coloured border around your rego label.

At the end of the day you'd have to be bloody unlucky to get pulled over and fined and not be able to talk your way out of it. wouldn,t recommend it for a daily driver.

Brad - August 28th, 2003 at 06:45 AM

Just to clarify what I am asking...

How are the chapters setup ? Do they all just belong to Klub VW darling Downs run by Alec and get togeather as a social thing ?

How do the NSW Chapters work as Klub VW has Inc status in QLD only so NSW don't recognise this.

To get concessional rego you must be a financial member of an incorporated club. This is the QLD rule, NSW is slightly different. I briefly looked into it when Marcel ( Type82) was interested in joining the Manx Club to get cheap rego. It all got to hard so we couldn't do it. I am just wondering if Klub VW has solved this problem of Australian wide clubs or not .

Cheers.

Stanley - August 28th, 2003 at 06:48 AM

Sorry Brad can't answer that but wer'e having a meeting tomorrow night so if no one who knows replys i'll ask Alec tomorrow night.

Brad - August 28th, 2003 at 06:53 AM

Cool, thanks for that. Must say it is great to see another VW Klub growing in size....

Tazz - August 28th, 2003 at 02:25 PM

Brad, We only offer this in QLD.
NSW has its own rules on Club REG.
We are looking into it though.
When we find out more.. we will let you know.
Members in QLD still have to give their detials to Chapter Heads and they pass it on to Admin in Toowoomba.
:)
Congrats Shani!
:) good to see!
