I'm starting to get back into skateboarding since my back hates the long surfing session so i was wondering if any of my vw family here like to bomb
a hill or two. I don't ride a trick board just a long board that i can carve the bitumen up on. I grew up in the 80's & 90's when skating was
mostly done by surfers when the surf was flat and we searched for hills to bomb early in the morning and storm water drains that we could ride like
waves. We use to love drains that ran down a hill and spent hours sweeping them out digging out tuffs of grass just to shred them to bits.
Unfortunatly i live in a pretty flat area, only have one slight incline at a new estate behind the fruit shops on Bribie rd so i'm using that to
practice and get the feel again. Anyone know of anymore around north brissy area ?
So lets see your boards (i'll post a pic of mine soon) and also love the old dragster bikes as well.
Found a huffy bronx at the markets and have customised it a bit for the kids.
If only it was denim blue hey Matt B...
Thinking about packing the skater for Valla ?
Yeah good skating at Valla Park.......roads of bitu-pave!
Couple of good hills up in "the beach" to hit as well
I'll have the longboard and hellbug scooter there as usual!
with the "h-street" Magnussun and "Alva" eddie Rategui and longboard......must dig out my original Caballero. Long board has original thunder
trucks, powell 65mm 85A's and bones ceramics
2008 spectacular with ZJ, 8 months old
Sweet man might have to get a Valla bones brigade carve session going! I'm packing the longboard for sure
My cement surfboard. Custom paint job i did 2 weeks ago.

Ha remember as each bones brigade was released.......was so exciting to sit down to each new one. The dude with the giant tree house in one of them
commited suicide years later and that was sad
Some good you-tube on the Christian Hosoi story around, his too easy rockstar rise to fame then drug fall......and how cool are the clips of Chris
Mullen reinventing his "feestyle" to full steet, mad board contol!!!
Always loved the one of Gator calling his tricks before he did them on the 1/2 pipe from one of the vision vids (man he stuffed his life).........umm
the Zboys of dogtown movie is sweet too if you've never seen it!
But check out anything from Pedros Barros in the bowls from recent times, just awsome!.....he's torn Manly's bowlarama apart the last few years now
Yeah man those were really good days. Luved the old skool street comps..handplants, acid drops, wall rides
Mate the hill at "the beach" is that quiet spot for cars?
Mullen.......now!

Gator calling them.....

Hosoi's story.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCdxNkXnjpA
Dog town and Z-boys.....tells the story of the beginings of vert riding with Alva and Peralta etc literally RAIDING pools around Cali. This really is
a must watch!

My side project
Used to skateboard, but no more.
Mullen is off the charts Fu*k.
hellbugged family and i are staying in Nambucca so you'll have to keep an eye out for me and my 2 groms going for an early morn down the main street
if it's smooth enough.
BugsyMalone thats sweet!
yeah when youre there.....we used to do the post office to RSL! and the road from Woolies down to the v-wall....
Yep yep, we will catch up sometime over the weekend.

The run from Woolies down to the wall ..... hope you have some very large gonads
Lost my gonads on a hill in Paddington Brisbane one night many moons ago, got half way down nice and low and started to get the speed wobbles and
ended up using someones front garden as breaks! lucky i was under the influence and didn't feel it too much. Owner was pretty cool as he use to live in Noosa and surfed and skated back in his day.
Yeah was talk on jjj with Doc Karl a while back on how the old teenage reckless abandonment had been scientifically researched and actually lasts till
very late 20's or even mid 30's before the brain changes in that "give it a go and see what happens" mindset.... Hit me hardest with windsurfing
over the last few years, big jumps just suddenly seemed somewhat unnessesary.... Sucks
Still sk8 as a mode of transport daily tho.... Try the park out everynow and then with the kids.
The boardwalk along the river in Nam would be good for a family sk8/bike ride when youre here...... Good 4 km to explore
Plenty of toys here if anyone feels the need over the weekend, mal, shorties, softlite, body boards.... A hobie 16 for matty
I still like to hit the pavement, cant do as much as i could 20 years ago but like to forget how old i am and hit the odd sk8 parlk from time to
time.
got this one from San Fran but can't bring myself to skate it so its bar wall deco.

Yep i'm 36 and lost my edge a few years ago, don't bounce like i use to and feel it the next day.

Must admit I don't skateboard but I do have a good mate who does..
His name is Danny and he holds the World record for the highest Olly
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKWoy0PaRZY
Our eldest still skates and we have a few boards, a few signed by Danny, a very old Birdhouse deck that I bought in Belfast years ago, a few prettied
up by Bristol graffiti artists and a couple of pinstriped old decks by a graffer from Boston who's Graf I collect.
Danny is also a good artist in his own right..top man. Got some shots somewhere of My lad and him on his personal ramps at the back of his shop in
Bristol..
