Milk crates
DubbyDo - July 28th, 2012 at 02:28 AM

Apologies in advance if this is common knowledge but Bugger me if an upturned plastic milk crate is not the perfect height to sit on while swinging spanners under a Beetle engine lid:crazy:
Was just bustin my already rooted knees replacing the manifold boots on my 1600tp and tried sitting on one, Perfect. Now all it needs is some wheels:cool:

Get an old office chair, take the back off it and set the seat at it's lowest setting, ideal and has a padded seat and wheels

HappyDaze - July 28th, 2012 at 10:22 AM

I've had these for years now, but only because the backs were breaking off our computer chairs! Put them down in the shed and found them to be very handy.

a little bit off topic, but in my old place in Sydney i had a whole cellar wall filled with milk creats on their side , cable tied together, and bracketed to the wall ....... best wine rack EVER.... and it only cost about $10.

I did see a big milk crate robot hanging of an apartment building near Flemington race course in melbourne.
I was told this was a world wide thing???.
Any body know???

ancientbugger - July 29th, 2012 at 09:08 AM

Your original idea is the best - a milk crate.....but it needs to be casterated.

vlad01 - July 30th, 2012 at 07:55 PM

get some caster wheels from a hardware shop and bolt them to some falcadore seats and then you got the perfect work shop low rider seats for doing jobs like that

grumble - August 1st, 2012 at 07:44 PM

My seat got bogged in the back yard and Big Ted had to tow it out,it wasn't casterated.http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp208/lesbarlinauto/beetle%20pedal%20car/100_3727.jpg
