Gearbox dramas in the Baja!

Was entertaining a lass that i have my eye on and thought a good trip along the beach to the sand dunes was in order, well cut a long story short, the baja shit itself. 50m from the top of the dune.

What basically happened was, the gear lever became jammed, and i was unable to select any gears. Eventually after bashing the living christ out of the gearbox with the good old blistein jack, i manage to get one gear. First.

Now where neutral usually is, first was. Now after a lot of mucking around and after shifting a lot of sand, and 20kms later, i made it back to the property. In first gear.

I didnt have any tools at the property to take a look at it, so i called up RACT to try and get a tow back to Launceston. Everytime i tried to slip it into third or fourth or any other gear, it would make a terrific grinding noise. And not the noise when you do clutchless driving, i mean a brilliant explosion of sound.

Just as the tow truck arrived, i was able to get reverse, third and fourth and neutral, but still no first and second. It just doesnt seem to be there to be found. Like trying to find the 5th gear that doesnt exist in a 4speed.

Any idea what on earth could have happened?!

I would have been building another baja if she had of shit itself on the beach, the tide is that quick..

If she can't deal with that and have a giggle, then stuff her!
Seek sterner stuff!

Don't bother driving on the beach or trying it on with the ladies? You never know your luck Vlad you might meet one who can put up with you

what can I say, I am a man that loves his quiet thinking time and cars.........a lot.
