Were looking for a place to stay during our travels of the East Coast from November 2012 to end of January 2013.
Will be myself and my partner V, both in our twenties, active kitesurfers, longboarders!!
Also looking to purchase a car/wagon, big enough to sleep in if we get stuck for somewhere to stay.. Must be a manual
Arriving in Cairns, travelling up north to the Daintree National Park, then South again, possibly going to eclipse2012.com festival, then checking out the coasts until we hit Sydney for New Years..
..Which is where our problem lies!
Trying to find some kind of accommodation for New Years in Sydney is proving EXTREAMLY hard!!! We would really like to be in the city to welcome the
New Year in Sydney style.
So if anyone living in the area would like to take us in for a couple of nights or has garden space for a tent it would really mean a lot.
After New Year we will be heading further South towards Melbourne to return to the UK
We would obviously be willing to offer beer tokens for any accommodation on offer, be it a room or a back garden!
Cheers all
D & V

My 1958 Beetle

I and some fellow dubbers live on the sunshine coast near noosa in Queensland
when your passing thru this way sing out
with any luck the swell will be on and you will get epic long righthanders
we should be able to cobble together a few local dubbers and go for a cruise about the sights of the sunny coast ![]()
hopefully some dubbers in sidanee can put u up even in the backyard
cheers pauly
^^^ yep, x2
Hey Darren, got that radio of ours in yet?
As you know Bob would be keen for a kite if you're bringing the gear. Matt and H (Paul) above are our neighbours so you definitely need to swing
Sunshine Coast way.
There are some lovely Sydney Dubbers on here hopefully that can help you guys.

Will need to hook up with you and Bob so we can check out the kite

As strange as it may sound there are even a few poms here on the Sunshine coast as well
Just don't mention the Olympics when you're here OK
less than 60 days to goooo, canna'wait
What car to buy? Camper? Price range?
Ok times is getting much closer now, only 4 weeks this Friday!!
I need some help and advice on buying a vehicle for my 3 month stay, purchasing in Cairns and selling in Melbourne.
Ideally looking for something that is suitable to sleep in and secure enough to know were safe at night!
We have a rough budget of $3000
I have been told most travellers arrive in Melbourne and leave in Cairns.. making my buying tactics allot easier?
Any advice on licencing, what I need to buy and sell would be great!!
Still also looking to hang and chill with other dubbers on my travels, so if you can put us up for a night or two we will bring some beers for your
troubles
..and if anyone knows of any OG flash trim for my 58 bug, I will travel far to fetch it!!
D & V xx
My advice is look on the site Gumtree
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-automotive/cairns/c9299l3004937r50
and see what you can find. we have a lot of backpackers that work for us and they seem to buy a van that they can sleep in. you will pay around $3000
to $4000 for one.
We are just west of bundaberg in Gayndah the citrus bowl of Queensland so if you need a place to stay for the night we always have room. our back yard
is 110acres
If you buy a vehicle with west australia rego it is easier to sell due to less paper work and inspections but most backpacker vehicles have NSW rego
I think if u get an international licence coupled with your uk one you should be ok
havd a chat to to travel agent or MI6
We made it to OZ!!!
All go go go here in Cairns, what a crazy place!!! Were on the hardest search ever for a van/wagon for under $5000 can anyone help us out?
We need a vehicle ASAP so we can head south to Melbourne!
If anyone knows of anything, please PM me or email me at darren.ninnes@hotmail.co.uk
Ash and Bob, we will be planning to come visit you guys once were on the road, keep an eye out
Thanks all
glad to read you made it safe
