Yeah, there is a bit of bug in that rust. :-)

1303Steve - August 12th, 2012 at 01:09 AM

The poms would fix that

Carl and Emily - August 12th, 2012 at 07:27 AM

You certainly like a challenge don't you,.. How did you end up with this?

Looking for the up side,.. it certainly has the 'aged' look going for it. Some call it 'Patina' don't they.

I hope your not thinking of using donor panels from this on our car.

matberry - August 12th, 2012 at 08:07 AM

There's a few other bits that are surprisingly good condition, and something very unusual, from a very old beetle.......

Good ol' DCOE

Matt you could probably make a fortune selling most of that car to the rat crew.

Someone out there would probably just buy it as is, paint the wheels red, slap a hoodride stencil on it and call it done.

The kind of Sidedraft Weber that is on this engine.
Looks like an original Italian one too.

vassy66T1 - August 12th, 2012 at 12:59 PM

I don't think the Weber is the article of gr8 interest;)

I see,... learn something everyday on here. Thanks Joel.

My guess is parts of, or the engine as a whole might find it's way into bluey at some stage. Am I right matt?

Oh,.. you people in the know are just toying with us.;)

When will the great reveal for those of us who don't know what is speacial/ rare on this motor happen?

Then I can stop checking this thread and get my tax done!!!

tar76 - August 12th, 2012 at 01:44 PM

I'ts got to be the dizzy? That weber would be cactus you would think.

vassy66T1 - August 12th, 2012 at 04:23 PM

I assume the distributor is part of the story ... I don't know the exact answer
I just know that a sidedraft weber is nothing to get excited about.

matberry - August 12th, 2012 at 04:39 PM

Well am yet to get it out but yes, the flat cap/dissy has to be the best part of all the rust. The sump is interesting altho I doubt it's anything to get excited about. It has a tapered bottom like todays EMPI but is only thin in the sides like a small Scat. The fact that both visors seem guite good makes me laugh, as does the complete rear vision mirror that seems soooo heavy the windscreen frame has buckled uder the weight.

The DCOE might be salvageable but whether worth the effort.....

Also came with this very homemade buggy.....

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo199/mattberry-photo/Rusty%20Relics/DSCN2382.jpg

This is what happens when you go interstate for the weekend.....

And Carl, I very much doubt any engine parts will be used ...... but of course, who knows, might have an Okrasa stroker inside.:no: You want to come and pull it apart.....for the experience :) ???

vassy66T1 - August 12th, 2012 at 04:43 PM

That last photo of the bug is a cracker!!!!

MISS VDUB - August 12th, 2012 at 04:45 PM
