Here is my old bug with D plate (plus RACQ plate on top).

Go with the Greek plate if you like, luckily it is your car!! :)

I'd stick with the D personally because of the car's heritage, but thats just me....good that you're proud of your heritage enough to display it!

Salahahdin - August 30th, 2003 at 06:30 AM

Hello all.

DasDubber, what year is that Beetle of yours?

I mean no offence here when I ask this but what does the 'D' sign mean, 'Deutchsland??'

Does it refer to the vehicles origin. Or the owners origin.

I have seen a lot of new vehicles with an 'OK' sticker, do you know what that refers too as well.

Sorry for asking stupid Q's but I'd love to know more. Thanks

XXX-1.8T - August 30th, 2003 at 06:40 PM

D stands for Deutscheland (Germany) but i reckon i can confuse people into thinking GR stands for Germany:P

The signs in Europe stand for the origin of the cars registration but a lot of the dubbers put the D on cos VW's are German.

Thanks for the pics guys now i need opinions GR or D sign!

Also my bug has the rails on the bumpers, do I use the stand the sign comes with or do i put it on the rails like Dasdubber?

You can put them where ever you like, but they usually come with a bracket.

The OK sticker is a Qld(I think) thing that has now been discontinued due to discrimination concerns.
The idea was, if you had a OK sticker on your car it was OK for the police to pull the vehicle over if the driver was or appeared to be under 25(also I think) as they had possibly stolen the vehicle. Obviously more commonly seen on more mature owners vehicles.

I'd love to do a GB on these but my mate doesnt have much room in his suit case as his doing some shopping in Wolfsburg too ;)

Mrs M - September 2nd, 2003 at 05:22 PM

Yes the OK stickers are for Qld Vehicles so that if police see someone under the age of 25 in the car they can pull the car over with out really having a reason
