vwo60 - September 29th, 2012 at 03:27 PM

I know it is not much use to you be i have a beetle convertable, i got a book from one of the suppliers in the states that supplies all the parts for the convertables, i am currently overseas at work and cannot remember who it was, if you get stuck i will let you know when i get home.

You should be able to get the book from chucks convertibles in the USA.

On my beetle, I am pretty sure the cable goes from the outside and pulls the roof material up in to the flap of metal. The loop of material at the bottom of the roof would be like a stopper so it doesn't pull through the flap.

Good luck

Read this ....

Ghia top replacement howto.

The read cable goes over the hood material but is passed thru holes on the side and retained by M6 nuts. The cable traps the hood fabric in the body channel when the nuts are tightened.
Normally you need two people to hold the cable in place but it can be done with one :)
