Hi all,
I would like to know what SF1254 means? it is stamped above the chassis number
sorry further information is it is on a 64 type 1. thanks for any help
is the car a golde sunroof? if so it might be a SR #### body number.
Yeah it is so is that what it means?
circa 63 and i guess 64 too vw australia used a "SR" body number prefix on Sun Roof models and "S" prefix on Standard models.
what it means is your car is an original 118 model (factory sunroof car) not a golde sunroof transplant.
Awesome mate cheers is there anyway to determine the original colour?
from what i understand they don't have all the details for australian built cars in germany so getting a birth certificate won't help.
my suggestion would be to try and find some og paint somewhere. perhaps underneath the fuel tank or above the gearbox. someone once suggested under
the ID plate which sounds like a good idea to me.
maxpwr! how about some pics so we can all drool over a factory aussie built sunroof car.
I'm on my mobile currently but when I get home I will post some. The car is still all og paint I'm just not sure if its pearl white or polar white.
does it have it's og headliner? ribbed or perforated? ribbed it's most likely a 63 so pearl white, perforated a 64 so polar.
(to be honest i'm not sure if the headliner change was exactly with the year model/colour changes)
its perforated so maybe be polar, it looks quite creamy so im not sure.
Sorry it's so late
Almost certainly Polar White (VW 1.3.903). Look in the front boot, behind the spare tyre, on the panel between the washer bottle and brake fluid
reservoir. That's where VWA used to put the Dulux colour sticker. If you're lucky it will still be there.
No, VW Germany does not have production details for Australian-manufactured cars. The records no longer exist.
