Unloading the first VW
DubbyFan - October 21st, 2012 at 07:42 PM
Found a great pic of the first VW an early Split window to run around my island home.
In those days the ship would stand off, you can just see her at the RH end of the island
in the back ground, small lighters where used to bring freight ashore. These days the ship
is shallow drafted and parks next to the jetty.

Hey there DubbyFan, sailing the Clarence river last week saw a ship called the "Lord Howe Trader" (at least thats what I think it was called, we
were on the other side of the river) is that the one that services LH now? great pic BTW.

Yep that's us Don, here is a couple of pics of her coming through the north passage on a rough day. This is how my garage will come some day.

No mate have worked unloading her the past and the ship we had before her the Sitka. Did the voyage once when she came out of Yamba. I have good sea
legs been there done that! She is flat bottomed so she can get across the lagoon and sit on the bottom for unloading.
They used to advertise return trips on her, most people who sailed over flew home!!!

I wish, if she was she'd be mine, can anyone date the beast is it a 50's model? Looks like a small back window and the early roof closer to the top
of the windscreen than the later splits.
