!!! GREAT NEWS Re the next Valla Spectacular !!!
matara - August 18th, 2003 at 10:13 AM

I've just been speaking with Donna Pell re putting show results up on the vwparts.com.au website

She has mentioned that next year (2004) will be the 20th anniversary of the first Spectacular, and rather than waiting two years she is asking the VW Community if we should hold a show next August to celebrate the 20 years rather than wait until 2005.

There is a good possibility of a major sponsor for 2004 too!

Here is what will be put up!

2004 IS 20 YEARS SINCE WE STARTED THIS EVENT EVEN THOUGH IT WILL BE ONLY THE 15TH SHOW. WHEN WE STARTED IT WAS EVERY YEAR BUT GOT TOO BIG TOO ORGANISE FOR US SO WE WENT EVERY 2ND YEAR.
WE MUST DECIDE IF WE ARE GOING TO HOLD IN 2004 OR 2005. WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME RESPONSE FROM YOU ALL.
EMAIL US ON donna501@bigpond.com or pell1@bigpond.com

So if your interested then send a quick email off to the above addresses.

72TWINCAB - August 18th, 2003 at 11:39 AM

Sounds good to me. Valla every year:bounce

Thook - August 18th, 2003 at 11:43 AM

That just means you have an excuse to have 'no rules' more often hey Glen?
:bounce

Baja Wes - August 18th, 2003 at 12:17 PM

should start a poll post on the issue, that'll show what the fans want, and how many want it.

Personally I don't think it would be as big if it was yearly. The prices this year were quite high, I don't think alot of dubbers could afford it yearly. Especially Amazer :D

Dasdubber - August 18th, 2003 at 12:27 PM

My email is already sent - that would be awesome to have valla on next year since I couldn't have my car finished in time for the one just passed!

Yeeharr...:D

ducky - August 18th, 2003 at 01:41 PM

Love it but I'll never be ready on time

ducky - August 18th, 2003 at 01:46 PM

Camping fees were $17 a site per night
$15 gate fee
this is the one I thought was exy $40 show and shine. Cost me about $80-$100 on fuel from Gold Coast in the Manx. We did the budget cook for yourself thing. 20 years is a big milestone I don't think thay can let it pass without getting together however I think thAT the show and shine should have two levels serious show sections and then light hearted, novelty style for the remainder of us. Lets face it not all dubs are show quality and many have been great reliable daily used vehicles forever. What does everyone else think???????

Tazz - August 18th, 2003 at 01:51 PM

Email has been sent and roll on VALLA 2004!

Miss Piggy - August 18th, 2003 at 01:58 PM

I've sent my email as well....
Bring on VALLA!!!!!!

:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce

lobus - August 18th, 2003 at 02:20 PM

I'll be there for sure. I don't know how much I spent on the accom. Idon't even know if I entered the show and shine. When we fronted at the park gate we had to pay some $$ for a wrist tag.I don't know what that was for either. Maybe it was to prevent bad times and hangovers. If so it worked. I kept a record of the fuel used on the trip and one of these days I will add it up. I do know we did just under 3000kms. Bring it on again for sure next year for the 20th Anniversary. Every second year is good though to preserve its Spectacularness.

KruizinKombi - August 18th, 2003 at 02:44 PM

I'm in!! :thumb

I ended the trip with 3500 kms on my new motor, which from memory, cost about $510 in petrol. :o

XXX-1.8T - August 18th, 2003 at 03:00 PM

Lets Do It!

Bring it on - cant wait man:beer

Baja Wes - August 18th, 2003 at 03:20 PM

$22 gate fee, $40 show entry, $50 sat night dinner (2 people). The show fee was the biggest shock.

I was mainly having a stab at amazer with the cost side of it. He had to pay for 2 reco'd kombi heads, which he put on a motor which later died anyway :D

I think the 2003 Valla was slightly smaller than the 2001 valla, so I am just hoping that having it 2 yrs in a row doesn't wreck the turn-out that's all.

kombi_kid - August 18th, 2003 at 04:30 PM

hey
i think it wouldnt loose enthusiasm for it every year!!! but i reacon scrap the show and shine fee dont even have any judging just a prize for the best public voted VW of all
but i wouldnt mind holding a minny valla here where i am
cheers
rhys
p.s. mails sent

type3kid - August 18th, 2003 at 04:43 PM

mine is sent!!!
yeah i think every two years is better, that way it's something to look forward to. i'd do it every year for sure, but would everyone??? hell i'd be happy to sit and drink beers with you guys anywhere though, so a mini valla at rhys' could be a goer if we get bored inbetween valla's! :D

Newbie - August 18th, 2003 at 05:01 PM

This has just made my day!!!.... week even...even if it doesnt happen ... i wanted to go to the one this year so badly but it wasnt an option:(..... perhaps they should stick to every two years to bring bigger numbers.... cept next year as it the 20th aniversary.... just a thought

Grey 57 - August 18th, 2003 at 05:32 PM

Best news I've had all week. emails gone and I'm there for 2004 / 20yr cellabration. :thumb:bounce

Sure the Valla trip cost a bit with costs to get the car up to srcatch blowing out a bit, but what the f**k its only money and the great time I had more than offset it.

Gotta say tho the $40 cost for Show and Shine was a bit of a shocker.

Peter Leonard - August 18th, 2003 at 06:52 PM

yep, it was kinda expensive.... seems like a heck of a lot of money got poured into the whole thing by us dubbers... 44 bucks wrist tags (what the?), 50 bucks dinner, 150 accomm, 40 bucks show, 40 bucks racing, 200 bucks fuel, for the outlay it could have been better organised. I also overheard talk of charging for the showbags (with maps, and event listings and LOTSA ads) on top of it all, and making them out of cotton.
it also would have been nice to receive a map via e'mail upon booking. so we didn't have to form a slow moving tweedledum convoy in the backstreets of nambucca searching for the venue... :D @ wes

and yet my e-mail's sent. :D

KruizinKombi - August 18th, 2003 at 06:53 PM

I think it would be ok if they have it next year to mark the 20th anniversary, then revert to every two years.

I've asked Donna to book me a couple of campsites, should they decide to go ahead next year. :thumb

11CAB - August 18th, 2003 at 06:54 PM

I agree with Wes, I dont think this year was as good as 2001, but I think that Valla should be next year to celebrate the 20th Anniversary, then perhaps it could go back to every two years and be held again in 2006.

reub - August 18th, 2003 at 07:35 PM

That means a condensed rebuild on the bug to get there in time.....now let me think.....

kOMBI KARMA - August 18th, 2003 at 07:36 PM

Yeah next year to mark 20 yrs then every 2 after

Ree

Tazz - August 18th, 2003 at 07:43 PM

Your shout dean!
Yeh.. every 2 yrs after... I dont think Mrs M could handle it every year, Too MISTY!
:D:D:D

11CAB - August 18th, 2003 at 07:50 PM

57kombi - August 18th, 2003 at 07:51 PM

Cheers
