Anyone planning to go?
This show is a must for any vintage VW pervert. It comes around every four years (just like the Olympics but is much less of an effort).
It's hosted by the Grundmann family who are absolute VW nuts in the best possible sense. The family owns some of the most mind-blowing VWs in
existence such as a 1938 Beetle prototype, a Kubelwagen prototype, a Schwimmwagen prototype among a huge collection of other VW and Porsche machinery.
The show attracts some of the best vintage VWs in Europe. Just imagine rows and rows of split and oval beetles, split screen buses, Karmann Ghias,
Hebmullers and every imaginable coach built VW.
The show runs for three days from 21 to 23 June 2013. It's just over six months away and early-bird flights to Germany are still available so it's a
good time to book now.

oh cool
we are looking at heading back over for ligo festival in latvija so may have to exend the deutch leg a little..
thanks for the info..
Hessisch Oldendorf clashes wirth Ligo festival in Latvia this time round. I'm heading off to Latvia right after it.
"h" - you have a Latvian background???
Went in 05
awesome show - so much old school and rare vw...didn't know which way to look.
theres also a swap meet....
So, any more takers?
I got tickets with Vietnam Airlines to Frankfurt for just a tad over $1300. Not a bad deal. There are several ways to get to Hessisch Oldendorf from
Frankfurt. A local flight to Hanover is possible but it can get a bit pricey and you still then need to catch a train from Hanover to H.O. A rental
car probably makes a better choice.
By now there are probably no more available hotels left in H.O., but there should still be rooms available in nearby towns such as Hameln.
What's special about Hessisch Oldendorf is that the whole town is transformed and joins in the VW themed celebrations. Most of the shops have their
windows decorated with VW parts and posters. The car exhibit is viewable for the 3 days, there is a swap-meet and vendors selling lots and lots of
goodies. You can also witness Schwimmwagens going for a swim in the nearby river.
Just to whet your appetite here are a few pictures I took in 2009.
Undis do you have anymore photo's would love to see loads more?
Yes, I have lots more photos. I'll post up more but before I do, here is a very nice video made by John Henry from the USA. It is of a cruise that
went from the headquarters of BBT in Belgium all the way to Germany. Enjoy!

Camberg is better
I heven't been to Bad Camberg so I cannot comment on that. I guess everything is as good as you make it. The good thing is that BC and HO takes a turn each, every 2 years.
As promised, a few more pictures.
So, I'm exhuming this old thread as I just completed a video of my trip to the Hessisch Oldendorf Show back in 2013. I tried to create a visual
narrative on what goes on during those 3 days. Enjoy!
