i received an email from Paypal this afternoon saying My credit card details had changed.
it had a link to go to, which I nearly did go to, but decided to go direct to paypal, and there wasn't any problems..
I sent the email to spoof@paypal.com.au and they emailed back to say it wasn't from them..
it was a PHISHING attempt... So, be careful....

I have been bombarded with these if they dont address you by name it isnt paypal
I get at least 3 a week, If they ask for anything or tell you you have purchased somethign that you havent, Just go to paypal and login manually and look at your transaction log, just dont click on a link unless your 10000% sure its legit.
I do get some similar to these from other places
Banks etc but I don't normally take any notice to them as you said unless they say Your name...
and when You can see that they have sent the same email to 100's of other email addresses..
You know they aren't real...
This Paypal one looked real...
someone has gone to a lot of trouble..
[unless they were very smart]??
Reason I baulked at this one, I have been paying by direct debit the past week or so...
as they have all been Aussies who don't like Paypal because of the charges and now one that only uses Paypal but has been having problems.. so wanted
Me to make sure it was going to their XXXXXXX email address paypal account..
but as I was paying thru EBay I couldn't see the address..
as they are very secretive now and getting more so all the time. lol
If they had nominated other payment ways, DD or pick up I could have Paid direct thru paypal...
but paying direct, [thru paypal] wouldn't show up at ebay????
or I believe that would be the case...

lee its been that with commbank for months now. maybe even up to year.
as for the other one they are easy to spot. hover your mouse over the link they want you to click and enter details on. if the link doesnt look right
dont click it.
its simple.
Hi barls
they must have been still allowing access to the other address which I did change about maybe a year ago..
until today... [had a 3 in the middle of the address] lol
just googled and ONLY commbank appears..
all the other addresses have left the building...
cheers

yesterday i recieved an e-mail from "Chase paymentech" saying i needed to pay an invoice,
2 things struck me as odd, 1, no logos just plain writing. 2 the first half of the e-mail said it was no-reply, the second half said i should reply if
i had recieved it by mistake (the e-mail address was "noreply@")
I couldn't open the attachment, but i did copy and paste the contact details into my browser. i discovered that Chase Paymentech are america and
canadas credit card agency. they have no connection with Oz at all (i dont even have a credit card). i e-mailed them and currently awaiting a reply. i
haven't bought anything from the states for ages either.... the plot thickens.
don't forget folks its christmas, millions wil buy on line and not give a second thought to a company asking to confirm details etc, easy $$$
I got email claiming to be from commbank saying something about unauthorised stuff to do with the account
I don't bank with commbank lol
