Globe Bathurst mags were what they are known as. Want a set ?? I have some I don't need.

snitz - November 25th, 2012 at 07:53 PM

Both Bathurst Globes and Performance Challengers have a shit offset too.Their okay if you want a rollerskate look..lol.

gordysbeetle - November 25th, 2012 at 07:56 PM

Yep I didn't like the look of the globes.

69bug - November 25th, 2012 at 07:57 PM

I want something with a decent offset
What's best? Stock?

snitz - November 25th, 2012 at 08:08 PM

If yours is a 69 torsion front then rear wont be a problem..The front will be a problem unless you narrow your beam down 2 inches or so if you want to run EMPI repro wheels etc.
.The other option is a set of wheels from Richard Holzl from VFORCE..His wheels are probably the best fitting aftermarket wheel without having to narrow your front beam.Look up his details and give him a call,he's a wealth of knowledge.

I run a set of porsche boxter wheels on the convertable, 6 x 16, ET55 on the front with 195/50/16 and 7 x 16, ET40 on the rear with 225/55/16, do not rub and clear the guards, i also run dropped spindles, if you do not have those it will still fit. you can pick these up very cheap on flea bay, do not narrow the beam just get the wheels with the correct ET so the car will retain the factory geometry.

50ET

They are some of the best fitting wheels I know

I run them and love them

The V Force Spiders came in 20 and 36ET

You will have to pick them up 2nd hand - Richard doesnt do them any more

It's a 69 manual so a swing rear axle and torsion front
Got 185 tyres on the back, so 4.5 inch rims and stock 165s on front
Will post picture

As Snitz said they are proper ATS rims.

The ROH copies (Bathurst globes and Performance Challangers) are fairly different in the flesh

69bug - November 25th, 2012 at 08:54 PM

So Joel where can I find some ats rims?
And what exact offset will I be looking for ?

69bug - November 25th, 2012 at 09:01 PM

Great looking wheel

vlad01 - November 25th, 2012 at 09:07 PM

You would extremely lucky to find a set of ATS Classics in Aus, you would probably have to get them from Europe, they are worth a mint as they sought after

The proper ATS classics have an offset and witt made for bugs, 15x5.5 et25.
the Globes were made in the era of wide Carrera gaurds, 6" et6 are a lousy fit with stock guards.

Are your current ones rubbing?

69bug - November 25th, 2012 at 09:20 PM

Nope they are perfect
Just after a different look

69bug - November 25th, 2012 at 09:22 PM

They are still listed on the site but look quite different

Joel - November 25th, 2012 at 09:26 PM

that's the 13" version for early watercooled VWs that's why they look funny

Gracey - November 25th, 2012 at 10:35 PM

I've got a set of 5 I'd be prepared to part with if the price was right.

snitz - November 25th, 2012 at 10:47 PM

Just out of interest Gracey..are the ATS rims magnesium/alloy or just alloy rim?..

Gracey - November 25th, 2012 at 10:52 PM

Geez I don't really know, just alloy I think.

69bug - November 26th, 2012 at 10:28 AM

Can buy of just campers for 900ish

snitz - November 26th, 2012 at 05:31 PM

Yeah was about to say that 69bug..As a Wolfrace wheel..They say they are 15" but I think the rim pictured is also a 13" wheel.

69bug - November 27th, 2012 at 08:25 PM

Hmmm wonder how similar they are
