barls - December 4th, 2012 at 07:39 PM

tell him possible engine rebuild and see what he says.
it sucks that it happened hopefully you have their details.

rose - December 4th, 2012 at 07:54 PM

It was our neighbours in our complex at work. Have all of his details and we're fully insured through Shannons. The young p plater driver pushed the accelerator instead of the brake and launched the 4wd at speed directly across into Buz he also hit a hilux tray that was parked beside Buz. Looks pretty bad and I said the f word a lot.
He's lucky no one was walking near by as the guys next door where unloading stock into the their shed all day.

helbus - December 4th, 2012 at 08:14 PM

I deal with Shannons a lot, and I can say from my experience that you will not have any headaches from them. You just need to find a proper restoration repair panel shop.

ancientbugger - December 5th, 2012 at 09:29 AM

My neighbour had a shed fire last Thursday (which then set my lovely 2 1/2 acres of rainforest on fire!) and lost his beloved Ducati Mike Hailwood replica (the engine is now a solid puddle on the floor) . They had to use our phone to call their insurance companies - house is with RACQ and Bike is with Shannons, Shannons not only caused a lot less fuss but they also said they'd cover all his helmets and leathers that were lost!!:tu: So I'm happy that you're insured with them....I wouldn't have it any other way.....?

AA003 - December 5th, 2012 at 09:59 AM

Are you allowed to drive your "Historic Vehicle" registed car to work?

donn - December 5th, 2012 at 11:15 AM

Oh no, I feel your pain And it wasn't an old fella who's foot hit the accelerator instead of the brake, wow., let us know if you need a mechanic to check the motor, I think I know one. :D

Serious85 - December 5th, 2012 at 10:32 PM

That makes me sad...

Plus i might look into Shannons, let us know how you go, everybody seems to think they are great.

Hope that doesnt affect your insurance?

ClockworkMonkey - December 6th, 2012 at 07:08 AM

Sorry to hear about your car. hopefully its only panel damage and not something more serious!

rose - December 6th, 2012 at 02:27 PM

Shannons are great, we've been with them for years and had a few claims and haven't had a problem.

I've lodged the claim & they said that it wouldn't affect my insurance in any way.

Winner!
I'll Shannons next time they are at a show I guess.

vlad01 - December 10th, 2012 at 10:43 PM

yeah I am with shannons too but never dealed with them apart from starting my policy. Wouldn't even have a clue on how to make a claim, but they sounds like the only good insurers out there.

rose - December 12th, 2012 at 01:03 PM

Shannon's wrote Buz off today, repairable write of as he is more than 35 years old. We have salvage wrights so one day he will go again.

1303Steve - December 12th, 2012 at 02:50 PM

Hi Rose

That stinks. How much was Buzz insured for?

Steve

donn - December 12th, 2012 at 07:16 PM

Dosn't stink, good news I reckon, easy fix and back on the road and I'll bet Shannons will reinsure it. Great company to deal with.
