Ignition boxes and dizzy options
modnrod - December 22nd, 2013 at 10:22 PM

How about some feedback on what's out there to fire a semi-serious bang? I haven't seen much in one place on what's available.
Features of some different units, any issues, the usual 2-stage limits, retard options for start or boost or bottle, advance curve programming if any, taht sort of stuff.
At the moment I'm actively considering the unusual step of converting my MV Wasser dizzy as a trigger for one of 4 different inline 4 bike ignition boxes I have in the shed, but since Dyna hasn't got an excellent reputation (deservedly so unfortunately!), some more reliable options would be nice.
Crank triggers and coil packs are great, I just prefer the look of an older style personally.

I also have the same ideas but have searched the sites with nothing incorporating the use of the 2.1 wasser boxer dizzy id be interested to find out if people have used a similar setup with success

This is sort of the thing I meant. Full ignition control, but looks like a stock setup. Any dizzy usuable really I guess, just make sure it doesn't wobble and then go.

Got a great write up in the latest HotVWs (as you would expect!), but it looks the goods.
Nice one Mr Pat Downs! :tu:

Use the module with any decent dizzy, hook up to either points or reluctor, wire in a HEI coil from any old 80's Falcodore, and voila!
Full HEI spark energy at the plug.
