Just received this notice of an upcoming VW parts car auction in Barnawartha, Victoria, next Saturday 21 June:
It's easy enough to find this location on Google Earth, and Street View gives a great preview of what they are getting rid of.
Hopefully some Aussieveedubbers can get there and give these old abandoned VWs a good home and a chance at new life.

The good cars must have been snapped up before auction. Plenty of people have turned up.
Any body get a bargain?
Was the white 76 beetle auctioned off?
The white 76 beetle is being kept by the owner.
yep went down for the auction
some cars have been kept there was about 120 registered bidders
I think top price was around 700 for a blue fastback
most of the kombis went for 200 to 500 all of the parts went on pallets from 10 to 200
bidder number 9 was a scrap metal dealer he got a lot
I was down there for auction, bought nothing. Went back with my mate in the afternoon to pick his stuff up and I met the old owner. I asked about the cars inside if he was keeping them and he said if I wanted to make an offer on anything feel free. He let me in and I looked over them, but due to things he said in conversation I never made an offer as I didn't want to offend him.
Camo, Ithought that m ight be trhe case. I didnt waste my time by even going down there to help him clean out his yard. I think he may have got a
council notice to clean up his block. That would explain why he was selling his rust.
Did ANYBODY get anything worthwhile from the sale?
regards
Old Hutcho
yep bonnets doors engine lids
Its all worth while just depends on your view
Most of the cars were parts or panels only cut with angle grinder i think there was about 6 or so reasonable to restore
as i said above Bidder number 9 got a lost of scrap metal
I was told that the Auction company was going to put out a list of items the week before, but this never happened and I now know why. No bastard (or
not as many) would have bothered attending. They also stated that the Mercedes was a 450 model (V8) which is why my mate wanted to go and it turned
out to be only a 6 cylinder model.
Old Hutcho, one of my long time accademy mates lives in Albury so it was a good excuse to catch up with him and attend the auction as only 20 minutes
away.
I was reading on another forum, the owner pulled the good cars from the auction and even picked the good bits off the pallets and put them in the shed.
Heard it was a waste of time for those who turned up

some nice early Type 3 over riders
I thought it was great day, picked up an early square and the dryest lowlight pmg i've ever seen in my life requiring no nose or sills rust work at all and a few other boxes of parts. Eddie was a nice enough guy and made a deal on a bug in the shed too. We would be upset too if someone came in auctioning our lifetime collection of vws for biscuits. Apart from most of it not being top notch quality cars, some of it going to scrap, a lot of it will either help our projects out in the future or see the road again, no complaints from my way.
I went, I got some great Items for very cheap .
Finally met Eddie he was great with me as He knows a lot of people I know and being the Host of v-dubs in the Square (VITS) he was happy I started
something like that In Albury.
Was sad seeing that scrapper buy so many cars only to scrap but man they needed some work !
