For sale is a Lowlight Karmann Ghia Coupe Project. I am selling this Ghia for a friend. It is located in Western Sydney.
Numbers Matching Body and Chassis with accident free nose in primer. Excellent original rockers. Original pans have usual rust areas and will need to be restored or replaced. Converted to 12V but still has original 6V wiring that could easily be reversed back to full 6V. Included is a 1500 single port engine and 1300 full synchro transmission.New installed headlining and most new rubber seals supplied. Missing is the nose emblem, air intake baskets, front blinkers, interior trim, license plate housing, one rear tail light housing, side trims.
Folks! to bring a car from US to OZ is close to $5000. Do your sums and you will realize that this is a good deal. If your going to spend money restoring a Ghia then these Rare Lowlights are the one's.

Hi Paul,

Ive never heard of a Ghia refered to as a lowlight, how dose that come about. I thought that was on Kombi's

TozzaKG - May 16th, 2013 at 03:05 PM

Hello Lowbug
Karmann Ghia's built from 1955-1959.5 with smaller air intakes and lower set headlights are referred to as Lowlights.
Take a look at this link: http://kglowlightregistry.com/

I think your old club president Mike Martinez had a low light Ghia, they also have tailghts that look like they came of an English car

Is that type 3 in the background for sale?

newghia - May 16th, 2013 at 08:07 PM

Why doesn't that ghia have any tail-light. Holes ?

jacksonjackson - May 16th, 2013 at 11:32 PM

It's got a few other holes missing too, front indicator holes for instance.

Also I'm pretty sure (might be wrong though) that there's meant to be a small crease on the engine lid just above where the number plate mounts. Might just be the colour + lighting but it looks to be smoothed out.

Yes, previous owner has welded sections on the rear taillights for some unknown reason. You can see the weld line from the inside so it would be a relatively easy job to cut it out accurately. It's missing the rear license plate light housing on the engine lid and yes, front indicator light holes have been welded shut.
