Hi all,
The time has come to say goodbye to the old trusty beetle. I have owned this car since 2000 when I bought it when a neighbor was using it for a trade
in. I drove it day and night until around 2009 when my now wife decided I needed a car with air con and electric windows.
Since then it has been driven very irregularly. It has, however, had an engine freshen up (top end rebuild) about a year ago when I decided that I was
going to finally fully restore it. As luck would have it, we had a baby and the engine has only done about 50kms since the rebuild.
The interior was touched up (professionally) about 3 years ago. Roof was replaced at the same time.
It did get stolen about 6 months ago (because its an awesome car) but the burglars knackered the ignition. Since that time I have been hot wiring it
(which is fairly easy) and taking it for spins around the block when I get time. Starts first time, every time.
It is "VW Golden Wattle" yellow (also known as Texas Mustard) with a black canvas roof.
It is, if I was being biased, a pretty noticeable car that my friends, family and I have loved having.
Good -
Great fun car.
Strong stock 1600 DP/TP engine
Front pads new
Semi-new interior
Semi-new Roof
Registered until 12/07/2013 as a "Tourer" (ie has passed engineering)
Wide 14 rims so it loves corners.
Bad - fairly long list but bear with me.
Ignition is stuffed but can easily be hot wired (will even show you how)
Some rust in pillars.
Some dings, bangs scratches (one sizable ding in the driver side front fender but could easily be popped out by hand)
Heating boxes not connected.
As they say, its a good platform for someone to spend a winter making an awesome summer car.
You can contact me on 0403 009 455 or tomnathan@gmail.com
The car is located in Kew, 3101, Victoria.
I'm open to reasonable offers but I'm not giving it away (like the 3 Kombis I gave away years ago. What an idiot I was!)
Tom
PS: I'll get around to taking some photos soon.
