I have for offer my Coral Red 58 LHD Ragtop
this car was built in Germany and left the assembly line on the 27th of March 1958 it was then transported to a SHELL service station /VW Dealership
in a town named BRAKE / UNTERWESER where the owner bought his car fitted with white wall tyres and accessories for the sum of DM 5.141,20 on the 3rd
of April of 1958
He left Germany bound for Australia on the 27th of January 1960 he brought his prized VW with him.
he had trouble finding work and making ends meet so he sold his car in the early 70's to a lady on the gold coast which is where the car stayed until
I purchased it in 2002
upon my purchase I received the original import papers and the original sales receipt for the car
although it suffered from neglect the people before me had done a bit of body work and redid the seats there local mechanic dumped the original motor
only weeks before my purchase which was heart breaking
the car has been rewired front to back
it has a stock 1600 with Kadrons and an Abarth style exhaust
I think it sounds great
it has a 69 swing axle gear box with the shorter axles
semi auto starter for a smooth wind
drop spindles on the front and a narrow beam
type 3 rear drums help it pull up
floor pan is original and very clean
and the body isn't too shabby either
interior has original door cards and redone seats
original floor mats and of course the original ragtop which I fully rebuilt putting all the original seals back in it has a tan haartz cloth top on it
and it doesn't leak a drop even in heavy rain on the highway
it has a HAPPICH Grab handle, BLAUPUNCT radio, cigarette lighter, PETRIE horn ring , PETRIE horn button . pop out windows. whitewall tyres ,tan
running boards, tan fender beading and a handful of other accessories
this is nice to drive and has never let me down
this is not a show car but it turns a lot of heads
and YES it is an ORIGINAL RAGTOP not a graft on job
PRICE -- $14000 OBO asis

still for sale
hi is this vehicle still for sale?
No. Not unless new owner Dan wants to sell it now.
Dont think dan is sellin it unless offered good money for it..
Amazing! I was hoping this was still for sale but looks like Dan is the new owner? And by "good money" for it $14,000 was the advertised price here
assuming it sold for that what is Dan after can anyone flick me his number in a PM?
Regards,
Jacob
Yeh i have his number.
Looks like it my be up for sale again judging from an ad on a Facebook site
Now $18k hey...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Vw-beetle-1958-genuine-ragtop-super-rare-Coral-Red...
Oooh Yeeaahh...
Saw it up once already, dude wants 18k for it.
I had a buyer locked in at a lower figure that turned out to be dodgy trying with the old take the car before the cheque clears routine.
So don't assume a fixed price. I was dealing with a gent and his split window beetle before I bought coral from Adam. Communication was lost but now
the deal is back on. I don't have room for anymore cars. In fact I'll be selling more than just the ragtop a further 3 cars are on the chopping
block.
If anyone is genuine and not just venting their frustration have a bid on eBay and/or inspect before hand. I've put in 2500 to make her travels on
the road become more timely and having full rego and rwc placed on her as of today.
I think that will take care of any further stipulating and speculating from here on in ..
Has this been sold?
There has a clone turned up on carsales for,....... Wait for it $26,500
Wow! Looks like you're right!
