Whats the story?

VDUBXTC - November 11th, 2004 at 07:43 PM

It has been popping up on E bay for months now.
I think it started out at $9,000.

If you have a good look at it and the people in the know will see it is not a genuine Meyers manx.

OK - i know squat about buggies

I have seen this several times before on the web

Seems cheap at $5k
Am i missing something

OK - it is not a Myers Manx :duh - but looks a lot better than a lot of other buggies i have seen,
I mean it is registered. I have heard of duds with rego going for almost this

oh well.......

finally its starting at a price closer to where it should be. too bad i mortgaged & saving for round oz trip.

if anyone looking, if its a good daily driver then think about it cause the $$ rack up quick turning a $1000 rusty pan and holey tub into a licenced driver....

RISKY^VW - November 12th, 2004 at 10:28 AM

you would not but it would out haveing a look right?

MikeM - November 12th, 2004 at 10:32 AM

It would cost a few $ to get to the East Coast as well. It's in WA.

bigbaja - November 12th, 2004 at 12:18 PM

doesnt really matter what brand if it is a short wheel base and its regd and it looks very nice then it is worth it

lets all do a little exersise and price building one from scratch and see how much you spend i bet you,ll be shocked at what it costs to build

hope you get what you want for it

VDUBXTC - November 12th, 2004 at 05:42 PM

Be warned.
I have recently purchased a buggy from another state.

I got it for $7,500 but it has cost me another $1,800 getting it here and regoed.
Then found that the motor soon developed a bad nocking noise in it, then the gearbox let go after putting another motor in it.
moral of the story.
Get some one to drive it that knows about vw's before buying it.

I sent someone who knows a lot about japanese cars but jack about vw's.

My Bad on that one

what would be involved in relicicensing this in eastern states. most buggies - especially older builds have no mod or engineering papers/certificates - other than the licence paper that says vw beachbuggy.

would a swb need to engineer inspected and report provided, traffic inspected etc????

I doubt very much it would get rego in NSW.

VDUBXTC - November 12th, 2004 at 06:42 PM

Piss easy to get it regoed in NSW, if it has held rego for more than 2 years in WA.
It only needs a weigh bridge ticket to go through blue slip.

I have no engineers reports for the roll cage in mine and it pass with out any dramas

preacherman - November 13th, 2004 at 11:04 AM

Dakdat you first mentioned no hassles re getting it regoed yet now say it cannot get rego in NSW?????

phatrat - November 15th, 2004 at 07:42 AM
