a friend of a friend has a 70 beetle for sale for $600 (firm), it is registered for 12 months but the rego is extra if you want it she had motor recoed 2 1/2 years ago ,i am not sure on engine size, the brakes were not long done and has good tyres , has some rust in bottom of A pillars but repairable does not come with roadworthy ,so if you want to keep the rego(extra cost) you need to get a roadworthy done yourself ,i have not seen this car or know this girl but she has had it for a fair while, is a 70 model one of those ones with different goodies like IRS etc
will try and get pics

Went and had a look today. It's a flipper blue 1500 (with a 1600 fitted) '70 BJ/Swing standard beetle with front disks. The engine looks pretty good and runs fairly well. Body has been knocked about a little and the paint is fairly ratty. The pedal box has been re-welded to the pan (not too shabbily) and water seems to be getting onto the floor. Has a 4 grille decklid. Front windscreen cracked but all of the others and seals are in great condition. The pan has surface rust but looks A1 underneath so could be cleaned up fairly easily.

I think the engine is easily worth what she wants for the whole car. I would take it but I'm after an IRS pan and don't have the space to develop my own private car-yard :D. She's a great chick and really loves the car (she's bought a newer vw to replace this one) and got a bit upset when I started talking about taking it apart.

Hope someone with a bit more know-how snaps it up.
