Might have to sell 57kombi (for real this time)
57kombi - November 27th, 2004 at 09:45 AM

Just some notice, when I get some time I will be offering the split for sale, I will post next week, got guests at the moment and have no time to list everything that has been done.

Just some notice so you can start saving your pennies.

Cheers
Dave

Dave, what the? It was only a few weeks ago I read a post about the grin on your face as you drove this baby for the first time.......

This reply is to make you feel guilty and not sell her. :duh

Squiz....

57kombi - November 29th, 2004 at 09:35 AM

I dont need posts like that believe me, Its hard enough already.
I am still in two minds, just that I have my eye on another project and heres where I sound up myself!!! but I have done too good a job on it,
It was supposed to be a camper to take the family away but now that its finished it is too good for that as I have a 2 1/2 year old and I am worried about her damaging it, then on the other hand I am also thinking, Well if she does I'll just fix it.

You are right about the grin on my face, I still havent fitted a stereo as i am still laughing to my self as I drive.

And now the trim is on , well , that is why I am having second thoughts about selling it
Cheers
Dave

Ah she'll look after it for you. I had my kids sticky fingers over my bug - they wash off no problems. As as bub grows up, she'll appreciate it even more.

Oh....by the way....good win overnight over the Arse.

Squiz....

Dave....dave.......dave.

I am only new to this site and have watched your progess always as I am doing a panel next year

You have been an inspireation in your attitude of doing it all your self

I do not know your finances but that aside ask yourself "how much can your daugter ruin a kombi that was saved from the wreckers in the first place"

Let her grow up in it and learn to drive in it and then she can take it to an open air rock concert and be enveid by all

Trust me she will think it is a bomb around 12 - 17 and then they click and have a sense of style about them
I know this cause my eldest daughter has been driving 74L for 2 years would not have anything else
Hense I am getting a 75L on the road for my 17old daugher who wants BRMs,leather seats, lowered, and sprayed black etc

I am sorry to rave and I know this will only make your decision harder

57kombi - November 29th, 2004 at 02:12 PM

I know

Its a hard thing to do.
I still havent made up my mind, I have just posted the pics and am now thinking of keeping it.
God this is hard.
I also want to enter it in the bay to Birdwood classic in September.

I dont know what to do. Its hurting my brain.
It looks so good with the trim on.

I am thinking of deleting the post.
But then I dont know

Cjheers

the best thing to do, to keep everybody happy is to give her to a mate to look after for about 6 - 12 months and then decide if you can live without her.

There's always a spot at my place!!

t2 - November 29th, 2004 at 05:49 PM

just sell it man it only took the best part of 3 years to get the way you want , just start another project and spend the next 3 years in the shed . maybe you could bye shit old doors and panels do the rust and just sell them
i know its a new shed but get out in the bus and drive it, remember all that sanding how good was that , remember that a panel has more sanding than a 11.
you will regret selling it unless you got a barndoor

Euro_67 - November 30th, 2004 at 04:23 AM

Dont sell it, every time I have sold a VW I end up buying another one six months later that isnt as good as the one I just sold. Buy a cheapo car to run around in and enjoy the splitty when you have time to appreciate it and the work you have put into it.

Wayne.

I don`t think there`s such a number as a Bajillion, but I agree, it is one in a Bajillion and if you sell it you will really piss me off aswell as regretting it.
Give me chance to get mine sorted (which I will be doing really soon after driving yours this arvo!!) and we can cruise the Bay on Saturday nights an everythin`!!
I know you didn`t want it to end up being a "Shane" but tuff shit, it is. Although a bit more orange peel and a bit less sanding and it wouldn`t be!
You can`t put a price on the enjoyment you get from it but if it was the the enjoyment you had building it just build another one (Panel) and have two.
I`m never selling the CrewCab or the Split, I`m just gonna keep adding to the collection.
Concentrate on building the DD Trailer!
You said you were never going to sell it, you said it is going to be Charlotte`s first car.
Don`t do it man.
Gra.
