cool
WAY COOL! dont see them around too often
abit of history behind this car is that it was used in PNG as a church mobile then a man imported it in 1974 into australia at which it was restored
he then passed it onto his brother who9 then restored it again back in the late 80's i think we have owned it for about 2 years know!
there isnt many around in australia that are actually still driving these where not produced in australia all are private imports!
cheers

p.s. this is the only 4 door sedan VW produced in this era
When I first saw one of these in Newcastle back in the late 60s.... I had always dreamed of a 4 door Volkswagen....
What size engine does this one have?
Is it Carby or Fuel Injected?
Manual or Auto??
I do prefer the 412 - it looks much better IMHO!!
The 411 + 412s had the type 4 engine....
and were sold in South Africa + PNG & New Zealand - plus North America, Egypt, Algeria + Europe...
but not in Australia or South America.... ??
They had 1679cc or 1795cc type 4 engines with twin carbies or Bosch fuel injection....
These were the ultimate Air Cooled 4 door Volkswagen....
Shame they weren't sold in Australia....
You can get fibreglass Guards in the UK for them...

hey lee
this one has the 1700 donk in it and is carbyd version it is using a type 3 gearbox modified for the hydraulic clutch although we have the original
gearbox here just needs a rebuild!! there is plenty of room for a 2L type 4 engine which is what we had planned!!
i agree lee it is the ultimate VW in sedan form there is enough room for 5 people cause u have no gear shifter tunnel, and with a mcpherson strut front
end have plenty of front boot space!!!
cheers
rhys
Has original glovebox handbook and a repair manual
was this the one from sa ? there was an army dude that owned one that was white. there was also a red one with a steel electric sunroof , 2 wagons blue and white, the white wagon is sitting on a farm with a dud 2litre. i dont know about other states, but they were sold at Lanock Motors here in adelaide new. ( i think they brought in five? to test the market)

Hey Rhys, remember that split kombi ute that was on ebay in the uk with hydraulic suspention! you posted it here, you dont have a link to it do ya, or
when it was for sale? i want some info on the setup
Andy
Its gotto go...no room
bump.
put it on samba or ebay where the buyers are.plenty of interest in the U.K
still no bites?
Can you please post a pic of the old trans?
What makes them different to a type 1/3?
Where to start? The 411/412 were the last development of the aircooled sedan platform before the Passat / Golf kicked in.
The type 4 engine alone is worth it, along with the petrol / gas heater (if fitted). This price is a bargain. I wish I had some.
Andrew
Put a Subie in it

Any interest before i sell or store the plates....
How much for transport to Melbourne?
