Go to http://www.bonhamsandgoodman.com.au  but you'll have to register to view the catalogue (doesn't mean you have to bid or even attend, just a marketing ploy). My mechanic tells me Lindsay skimped on the paint job because his resto man couldn't keep within the sctrict budget, so it may not be as much of a peach as it looks. Still, it's been sitting in a museum for god knows how long.

As far as I can tell pretty much the whole collection is up for grabs.

It's on Monday 1300, at the Fox Classic Car Museum, cnr Collins and Batman st Docklands VIC

The oval went for $6500. It was all matching numbers, original engine (forget mileage). Paint was very good no rust to be seen, only flaws were some of the chrome was a bit scratched and some of the interior stuff like steering wheel, shifter weren't perfect. I thought I was gonna get it but some bloke who looked like he had a crapload of money got it ( he was bidding on a $20k number plate and $120k porsche 356 as well ) so I had to let it go after $6250 :( Wish I had the money it was a beauty!

The 356 speedster was bloody awesome and went for around $120k.

The 60s beetle wasn't too bad but would've needed some work to make it schmick.

Someone else might know about the other prices, we left after the oval sold. From memory there was a white 60s bug and a white bay window kombi in the carpark, anyone from here?

Red gullwing went for $526,400! Hope the speedster went to a good home, wish it were mine!

Mr Bubble Head - March 8th, 2005 at 08:31 PM

I went to the auction the oval went for $6200 to an older guy the 60 bug went to another young white beetle driver for just over $3000 the speedster went for $120000 probably to an overseas market as two guys were buying together, the merc 1953 380 cabrolet went for a mere $400000.
The best thing about the day was I got to talk to the man himself lindsay fox, and also getting spotted on TV. The worst thing was getting a parking ticket and missing not getting it by about two minutes. B@stards nailed about 20 other cars at the same time.

Was he a bit short on money?

Mr Bubble Head - March 8th, 2005 at 08:48 PM

No "just clearing out some junk" was what he said as I was looking at the testarossa. But I read that he was getting rid of these cars due to not meaning as much to him as when he first brought them. the merc gulwing was no major loss as hes got another four of them.
