Aussie Barny for sale. Go for it.
type_one - March 24th, 2005 at 09:54 PM

Not sure i'd pay the asking price. But then again if money was no issue i'd be thinking long and hard about it or is it short and soft.

squizy - March 24th, 2005 at 10:45 PM

Wasn't this an older restoration from 15+ years ago?? I remember seeing it at Valla.

frog - March 24th, 2005 at 10:45 PM

will go O.S.but hope not.
Whats with the mirrors?should be only one on drivers pillar or is it a special?

VDUBXTC - March 24th, 2005 at 11:08 PM

Does this thing have a motor?
no exhaust showing, realy bad camber on the back wheels.

pod - March 24th, 2005 at 11:42 PM

selling his frid as well $25500

57kombi - March 25th, 2005 at 10:10 AM

God hes expensive for his bits.

Frog, your right it has later split mirrors, all barneys had them on the A pillar.
He doesnt mention the year or when it was restored?

Cheers
Dave

KDFking - March 25th, 2005 at 04:30 PM

for 34700us$ it has to be a bit more special then that in my opinion???you can get fully restored barnys in europe for around the 15keuros mark so you could almost buy 2 from europe at this price????not saying that a GOOD resto is cheap but id like to see him sell that in the UK for 18.5k pounds??just my opinion...still think its a very nice splitty though!!!!;)

type_one - March 25th, 2005 at 07:25 PM

I could be wrong but am fairly sure he is selling them for the owner of Brooky spares. They are their cars just Vic is handling the sale and i guess getting commission. Like i said i could be worng. I do know that apparenlty most of the stuff out in wilberforce is not his but Brookvales spares owners.

frog - March 25th, 2005 at 09:10 PM

type 1 you are correct in your assumption.
This is a barny standard sunroof mind you,
How many standard sunroofseses do you know of let alone barnys?
I think price is okish,
go find one at K-mart,
U.k. dudes might grab it,
No one here will,
had a few drinks I have.

splitbusaustralia - March 26th, 2005 at 04:59 PM

A RHD barny sunroof standard is a very very very rare bus.
Rarer than a barney 23 window or just about any other
'factory' splitbus that I can think of. I think there's 3
in the world.

RobK

57kombi - March 26th, 2005 at 05:20 PM

Rob.
Isnt yours a sunroof standard as well.

Cheers
Dave

KDFking - March 26th, 2005 at 07:46 PM

i saw the one the 23 window barndoor that was being restored(about 5 years ago now)..(by the old owners of volksrestore brisbane:thumb great guys)and somebody told me that they only made 300 23 window RHD barnys in that year(forgot exactly what year it was)but i think that i sold for a helll of a lot less then this one.if yous want i can post a whole heap of photos of barnys that have been offered for sale in europe in the past 6 years???

plus me and dad found almost 30 barnys in europe on a parts hunt about 6+ years ago..even found a like new rust and dent free ambulance barny (probably undercover and hardly ever used...and this was in a wrecking yard??)that we could have bought for 500dm(about 400au running...but i didnt have my licence back then)but shipping was a problem.if you look on google theres a barndoor wensite that is based in the UK and there are heaps of barnys 4 sale there..and are fridolines that super rare?????

theres also a 1952 papler police car 4 sale in europe at the moment(like a split cab with 4 doors)and there asking for 15k euros....now thats a pretty rare car!!!one thing that i love(nothing to do with this subject)the wanted ads on the samba looking for hebmullers...willing to pay cash(just asked what his expectatiions were and as usuall, lkooking for a 50-75k car for 10-20k????just love those people!!;)if you really want a rare vw there still out there, just go to europe and go for a long drive into the lesser developed countries and you wont belive whats still to be found.

ill keep everone posted on my finds once im up there.best regards Andreas...wont be on the forum for a few weeks cause im pretty busy getting ready for my trip.but happy easter to everyone and best wishes to all!!!:party

KDFking - March 26th, 2005 at 07:52 PM

and if vic is the person selling this car on consignment.i recently recieved photos of the 1945 beetle that was offered for sale and to my knowlege they never ever made rhd kdf beetles or i could be mistaken???;)when i saw the photos from the 45 beetle it looked like scap metal for 25kau???no offence vic...but there was a 46 beetle alot more complete and original on the samba last years for 13kau(10kus)just couldent get hold of the seller.i think i should start impoting barnys and split bugs if prices keep rising like this..:kiss

splitbusaustralia - March 26th, 2005 at 08:08 PM

I know ..

But really there are a bunch more kdf beetles, paplers, schwimms
and barndoor 23 windows around than there are barndoor standard sunroofs......

But it still only worth what someone will pay for it of course....

I'm just saying its really rare and 'special' because its factory and NOT a coachbuilt (even though they're rarer than most coachbuilts anyway....)

regards

RobK

frog - March 26th, 2005 at 09:41 PM

So far this has been picked on even by me about the mirrors.
I was at K-mart this arvo and they had 20% off all barndoors.
I was unlucky because I missed out on the last sunroof Barny.
There was still one standard barny left but the box was a bit damaged so I passed on it.Yeah right!
Like I said before, you can't buy these at K-mart,why anyone gives this fine vehicle greif is beyond me.

okrasa power - March 26th, 2005 at 10:21 PM

You could not buy one and restore it for that money
And $45,000 is not that much money for such a rare car
My opinion only

MickH - March 26th, 2005 at 10:25 PM

If I could convince the wife I would buy it:kiss When would another one be likely to come up for sale??? Like the Frog said....you can't get them at Kmart:duh

VDUBXTC - March 26th, 2005 at 10:30 PM

Yeah, good price if it has a motor.
Has it got an engine, not looking like it in the pics

koolkarmakombi - March 27th, 2005 at 10:18 AM

for 45k I would want the standard resto'd mota,

tis a sweet bus for sure.

57kombi - March 27th, 2005 at 10:21 AM

I think this is a reasonable price for this bus.
I commented on the price he was wanting for other parts on Samba and thought they were expensive.

It is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
Imagine how much it would cost to restore a barny.
The parts just dont fall out of trees. And the drive train is totally different to later splittys.
If I had the cash I would buy this(obviously after giving it the once over).
I would never just buy from pictures.

Cheers
Dave

wouldn't need the motor if I could afford it.
put the porsche 2.4 in with the entire rear assmby to go with it and get it down in the grass

way to go

KDFking - March 28th, 2005 at 09:28 PM

i in no way said that this car was` a rippoff.i just think for that kind of money, you can get very rare vws these days...yes even rarerer than a standard sunroof barny(dont know if there are just 2 of these left in the world.what it comes down to as somebody has mentioned,if somebody wansts it and has the money then go for it.personally i think i could get alot more bang for my buck and i would preffer patina or a full ground up resto.i guess its just up to personal prefference.

just like there have been 2 split beetle cabs 4 ale in the last 5 months.1 on ebay germany for 16k euros and another in portugal for 25k euros both unrestored but the one from portugal was supposidly rust free with the original paint.and as for barnys and you have 45kau and there are really just 2 of these buetys left in the world then buy it if your looking for a RARE car...but just as mentioned its all up to the individual person..no offence intended to the seller and aussieveedubbers or especially the kombi which i stated is really NICE!!!just not my cup of tea.and as for people that knit pick.....aussieveedubbers are really good in this scene as i hardly see any knitpicking(myself not included)as when you post a photo on a european website youll really see your car taken to pieces...

which i also dont like.and someone on ebay has a swimmer, restored 4 sale for 60k euros(over 100kau where about 8 years ago they used to sell for 1/4 of that(restores fully).just like the aussie container van..only 300(or 3000 ,ad in aus as ckd)and there are something like 15 registered in the world if im not mistaken...still no reflection on price there???:kiss

sorry for the waste of space!!!
