I know the original owner of this car. It's an awseome bit of kit. Anyone interested in an early beetle would be mad to leave it. The pain is great and the body was super straight when I saw it last.

type_one - March 27th, 2005 at 06:29 PM

Hope you all got a good look at it at the Nats. Now somebody just has to offer me some cash for it. Don't be shy offer away. Worst i can do is say no but i may just say yes. Hell sometimes it works. Thats how i landed my wife.:thumb

sax - March 27th, 2005 at 06:33 PM

Was this for sale at Boris' picnic day for $4500?

sneak_e - March 27th, 2005 at 08:56 PM

It was on here a while back for $5k unregistered wasn't it. From Riverstone?

wrecker67 - March 28th, 2005 at 10:09 AM

this has had shit loads done to it since then,,,,,i think its jasons labour of love.........

type_one - March 28th, 2005 at 10:17 AM

Was for sale at Boris picnic for $6000 unregistered and with only half the stuff done to it. Rest assured i haven't purchased it and now trying to sell it again. I have owned it for the whole time it has been on Aussie veedubbers. I don't think i ever offered it for sale for $5000 though.

I have done heaps to it since Boris picnic. Changed heaps of stuff including the complete gearbox and engine. Gearbox is now a later model swing axle with welded diff. Welded diff people. And the 1600 is a nice good strong runner with a centre mount weber on it. Obviously lowered it and added things like stereo and roof rack. Got to hear the stereo. Sounds great. 10" boxed sub, amp, 6X9's and front mounted tweeters with a kenwood deck. Of course i registered it as well which is a bloody huge cost for something i never drive. Had heaps of bites unregistered but was convinced to do the blue slip thing and rego it. So all you would have to do is get in and drive it.

Basically it is a realtionship killer the work i have done on this car. Believe it or not the wife misses me.

Hey Sax offer me $6000 and see what i say:thumb

This car has to go. Other things to work on and too good for me to keep registered to park at the train station everyday.

byronbus - April 1st, 2005 at 10:33 PM

swap for my oval?

type_one - April 2nd, 2005 at 06:46 PM

Mrs would kill me. Got any good pics of it. Maybe i can convince her. Why do you want to get rid of an oval though. What rust issues etc does it have?

byronbus - April 2nd, 2005 at 08:32 PM

No rust, original unmolested...do a search on my name and you'll find it...want a daily driver and want to slam and do some things and dont want to do it to an early oval...but probably will sell...

Fossil - April 8th, 2005 at 03:16 PM

That is a nice beetle - I'd get killed if I bought it

NOBODY BUY THIS CAR!

I live in Canberra and I won't be able to get down to Sydney to see it until the 14th, so nobody is allowed to buy it before then!

Seriously though, go for it if you want it, but if it's not sold by the 14th I'll be picking it up

link? i'm lazy

rearengine - May 4th, 2005 at 08:21 PM

This car was advertised for sale without a rwc for $4500 a few months back on AVD.

I remember because I was trying to get my sister to buy it. $6100 seems a bit of a hike for a car that now has a roadworthy and a roof rack, especially since u couldn't sell it at $4500.

Having said that, I always thought this car was a bargain at $4500 and with a rwc it would be very very good value at its current price of $5000 on ebay.

wrecker67 - May 4th, 2005 at 08:37 PM

the car now has heaps done, not just a rack and rego,it has had white walls, fully ajustable suspension, late model gearbox, late model motor, new stereo,do i keep going,i have helped out here and there, and let me tell you this car is worth lots more.............

ian.mezz - May 4th, 2005 at 09:00 PM

yes the car is very nice ,seen at nationals.:mad:

type_one - May 4th, 2005 at 09:09 PM

Yes it was on here at $4500 but basically with nothing done. I have done lots to get it into the condition i have it in now. Have easily spent the extra $1500 that was origianlly asked for. Anyone that has rego knows it come in at about $700. It has gone through the whole bearucratic BS that is the blue slip. So considering that it is now loaded with accessories stereo, lowered, whitewalls and the list goes on I would say like you have said that at $5000 it is a bargain. Given the originsl price in my opinion was still fair.

Drives much better too with the coil over shocks on the rear. And the front raised a little. Much better than standard.

I challenge anyone to biuld this car for $5000 including buying the car.

Bid away people. It will be sold. Going to be fun as heaps of people are watching it. I can fell a last minute bidding war coming on.
