Selling my Splitty (--SOLD--)
Jonno777 - April 1st, 2005 at 01:04 AM

mrjonno@dodo.com.au
Deniliquin, NSW

Auction - no reserve.

I've been riding my bike to work just for the pleasure of owning a split kombi (needs some work for registering). My wife and I are having a baby now and I've been urged to sell it so we can buy something more "baby friendly". It's got quite a history with show business, and it comes with its original documents.

It's on ebay. Check it out.

Somebody was kind enough to find its year. It's a March of 1955 model.

No empi, it's 'show fair' history. Going around to local shows for years on end, being the audio station for the event basically. The announcer would operate from within the bus, which he had converted into an office.

Good idea, Andy. I've uploaded another picture page with some pictures from the engine bay area. Will be adding more pictures of the engine bay later today.

KDFking - April 5th, 2005 at 04:58 PM

nice original splitty in my opinion!!!!wouldent take to much to get this one in excellent condition........love the question:
will you please sell me the opening front windows ..i can send replacemt windows and will pay bid $$$ like $500....?? yeah right really funny !!!!!!

seeing that a repro set is worth a grand ...good money would mean about $1500 hey???not that you should consider selling them out of the auction anyway....but i just thought it was funny:P

guck luck on your auction!!!it should go well in my opinion??

Thanks King--I'm happy to see it go to somebody with plans for it. I found the question was funny in a "...are you serious...?" sense. Hope they buy the van and then grab the stanley knife to save the safaris. Then hopefully they'll give the rest to me as they won't have a need for it. :P

Brad - April 6th, 2005 at 10:56 PM

mm I see the top Bidder is Luke Pell from http://www.vwparts.com  guess it may get parted after all.

byronbus - April 8th, 2005 at 09:34 AM

That's a somewhat misplaced statement considering it sold to an Aussie.

Took me that long to get all of the pictures up, but I'm glad I went to that length because I wanted the buyer to know exactly what they were buying. Also, the kind of person who would stay up till 1 in the morning over a volkswagen is the kind of buyer I wanted. :thumb

Jonno777 - April 8th, 2005 at 06:16 PM

New buyer's from Sydney area. Would be nice to see it again in the future.

What kind of work do you do up there, Bruce?

Secoh - April 10th, 2005 at 11:00 AM

thats what happens when no-one here is willing to part with their money.

Secoh - April 10th, 2005 at 11:03 AM

that doesn't make sense considering it was auctioned.

Secoh - April 10th, 2005 at 11:06 AM

just means you didn't bid high enough! :p

57 Chook Shed - April 10th, 2005 at 06:12 PM

But it sold to a guy in Sydney, I sold some parts to him a while back.

glider69 - April 10th, 2005 at 07:08 PM

Jonno777 - April 10th, 2005 at 07:20 PM

haha, exactly, glider.

57kombi - April 10th, 2005 at 07:28 PM

As long as the seller and the buyer are happy, it has nothing to do with anyone else.

Cheers
Dave

frenzix - April 10th, 2005 at 08:07 PM

plenty more out there that's true!! i have one on there at the moment

waltermitty - April 10th, 2005 at 09:25 PM

same guy 'trainspoter1968 ' bought the old fish kombi also . He could well be filling containers but hey if we dont buy them someone else will and there are those of us who need to sell.
I am greatful that mine went to George at Cupids weddings not just as he will look after it and it will get used but it will stay in Here. But I needed a sale and if I was offered the money i needed from someone OS i would have had no choice ( or at least the luxury ) of refusing. Mitchell

VolksFolks - April 10th, 2005 at 09:29 PM

Walter, i think you are mistaken dude, 1976kombi bought fish's old one not the trainsspotter chap..
