Secoh - April 2nd, 2005 at 11:00 PM

57kombi - April 2nd, 2005 at 11:05 PM

So for reserve, how bloody long is the extension cord??????

Cheers
Dave

68AutoBug - April 2nd, 2005 at 11:10 PM

This was on ebay last year....
I thought it may have sold.....
Very interesting "engine"....

How many batteries?? what sort of Batteries?
Deep Cycle "expensive" batteries??

One of a Kind for sure....

All Auto electricians should drive an electric car.....

Even Porsche made some in His younger days....

It should have been at the Nationals.....
$5 a drive...

the batts that were in it good for a 100km,would spin the wheels off the mark, has no clutch....4 speed.
the only reason selling is he found a better electric car....
just ring him,he will tell you what is all worth..
cheers

BiX - April 6th, 2005 at 08:40 AM

this is the ine that was sold via ebay last year from brissy i assume?

VWENVY - April 6th, 2005 at 09:18 AM

Hats off the this car- and the modifyer!!!!

Someone with an environmental ethic and likely a VW enthusiast has put a lot of effort into converting this fastback and i think its farken great!! Would make an ideal daily driver/comuter - speed just doesnt come into it! The cost of batteries are more reasonable than you think, and would pay for themselves over and over again!!

;)

warb - April 6th, 2005 at 09:27 AM

plug that thing in at home, the cops will come knocking, using all that power to charge it, the will think your running a meth lab.... love it.

VWENVY - April 6th, 2005 at 09:30 AM

Warb - I think your statement that 'cops will think' is rash and misleading - that rarely happens!

warb - April 6th, 2005 at 09:32 AM

haha, yes shame on me.. they will 'assume' :P

VWENVY - April 6th, 2005 at 09:42 AM

I wonder how much weight could be stripped from this fastback to improve the life of the batteries, and drivability!
I rekon it would be great stripped of all body crap, bumpers etc, matt black paint, a set of alloy cooky cutters, lowered, tinted and looking fat!! The current sad appearance doesnt do it justice...

wrecker67 - April 6th, 2005 at 10:09 AM

this thing drives well, seen it take off, spins the wheel no problems, you could pull it out off this fasty and stick the gear in a early beetle, much lighter...give paul a ring about it

Yeah, swap the doors for laters and stuff since they're much lighter. Perspex windows, modern sound deadening (not that you'd need it other than around the wheel arches and floor).

Shame I do over 100K's a day and have two projects on the go, this would be fantastic. Always wanted an electric car:thumb

Need a thumping big stero on full tilt and have the track "1200 going through the gears" playing

I thought my computer speakers were broken...until I herd the sound of tyre squeal...

shaihulud - August 12th, 2010 at 03:33 PM

I hate to rain on your parade.

If that electric Type 3 is charged up by plugging it into the mains via a charger, then it is not environmentally sound as IT RUNS ON COAL.

It would have to be recharged by wind or solar to begin to be environmentally sound.

As it is, IT RUNS ON COAL, coal is about the dirtiest way to generate electricity and that SUCKS MAJOR.

Recently one of our state governments (NSW?) has bought a whole lot of so called green cars that plug into the grid to be recharged. They are therefore not green as THEY RUN ON COAL.
