Try:

It's the aussieveedubbers of the 4x4 world. 40 series, bundera's etc they're all there. What are you after?(personally I reckon you can't go past a 40!)

what the hell, jut buy a new 100 Series!

I like those 80s middies and Bunderas - but the Bunderas have weak suspension mechanicals I think...??

There was a MWB landcruiser for sale at a car yard on old Geelong road, in Hoppers Crossing. it was there 2 days ago?

Good luck

The Mwb had head problems >as did all the F series motors valves , por flow and carbon problems .
you would be far better to get a coil over nissan wheel travel is great , or if you have 23 K you can have my 96 jeep done 70K and had over 55 K spent on it has every thing but a winch on it and been off road 3 times ( to back a trailer on to a lot to dump sand ) has lpg conversion , ect ect ect ect ect ect and so on
O its my wifes I dont drive it

there is no such thing as a middy 80 series...
gq patrol yes, but all landcruisers bar the 40 are long wheel base, and the 40 still has a troop carrier.

the best short/mid wheel base car is the gq by far. the 40s are sought after by rich kids with too much time, and thus the price has elevated in their popularity and now many arent worth what you will pay for them. the coil springs and tough running gear ie diffs of a turbo diesel gq is perfect for anything between tuff trucks to touring. the perfect basis of a rough tough 4wd with some minor modifications, ie spring lift... 5 link systems are great, as are arb air lockers

on the other hand if you have some cash to burn, grab a decent shorty 40, spring it over, extend the shackles, stick a landcruiser 1hz motor (4.2 turbo diesel used in 80 series) and run some 35 inch baja claws. itll pull you through anything.

Ive got this in the trading post at the moment for $5,750 ono Its a 3.5 diesel. Its to far from you in Melbourne but they are a good 4x4 and are exellent on fuel. I replaced it with a syncro camper.

Thanks guys!
I'm checking out a 1990 SWB Bundera today.
I've heard mixed reports about the suspension in them. Apparently SWB's have coil over from the factory.
The one I'm looking at has a 2.4L Petrol motor (22R), which around the web is said to be a strong motor.

They're a bit thirsty, but. Don't worry about the springs, even rooted and sagging they'll still go alright. I've put Old Man Emu Shocks and leaf springs on my forty. Worth the thousand bucks.

The 1990 one i looked at turned out to be an 89 and wasnt in great nick considering the price the guy wanted.
Have found another 89 bundera hardtop, just getting a racv check then a roadworthy this week, but the seller is tight and wont let me drive the car to get stuff done on it, they will only drive it to the places where it needs to go, but they cant drive it anywhere during business hours because they are at work! I cant win, thinking of getting a dodgy rwc so i can do the transfer papers and get on with it.
