ahahahahahaha you dont understand how much i wanted it i followed him for 20 mins cause i seen a bit of paper on the window!! and the fact dad just
brought ur 54!! it is trully one of the most unmolested original beetle!! i personally think its a 58 model but he said it was an import not an aussie
build so it might be a 61 not sure didnt check the numbers!!
cheers
rhys
"Fritz" is the pre 40 HP beetle. It didn't have the fuel gauge so there is an aftermarket from new one in it. Someone else may have more info on
the models but I had about a November 1961 production 40 HP beetle and it still had reserve tap as well as std fuel gauge in it. Not sure when it
ended. Bob's mother's car came out of Melbourne and then lived around Canberra before going to Bateman's Bay area and then Coff's.
Bob also has a genuine German round toolbox someone might want at the right price! Only missing the screwdriver from memory.
See! I know a bit about "Mr Guitar" Bob Clark! Talk him into coming down to Sawtell for some great entertainment. He shouldn't have retired!

Does it have semaphores? Does the toolbox come with it?
no blinkers so must besemaphors
check stamp dates on speedo etc for manuf year
The car was purchased from Spencer Motors new in 1961. It had the aftermarket fuel gauge fitted from new by Spencer Motors. The semaphors had been
replaced with those aftermarket blinker units whilst the car was in Canberra. Sadly, the semaphors weren't kept.
The engine number is 3695061 and the chasis number is 2930359 which looks like around Feb/March 1960 manufacture and then a slow boat via China to
Spencer Motors where it sat until the purchase in 1961.
The toolbox isn't with the car price so you can negotiate with Bob on that one.
