reub - September 13th, 2005 at 09:51 PM

I've emailed him trying to talk him into keeping it and bringing it up....we need more nice vw's up here to get a vw scene happening.....

Fossil - September 14th, 2005 at 12:51 PM

Is that exhaust legal - nice bug and think he'll need to be a bit flex on the $$

VWFOOL - September 14th, 2005 at 01:12 PM

are you making an offer fossil?

Paddo - September 14th, 2005 at 05:46 PM

WOW!

If there is no reserve, that is a bargain even at $10000.

I can only imagine how much you have spent on that....

That is one awesome car.

herbsta - September 15th, 2005 at 12:27 AM

That has to be with out any doubt the most tastefull dubbs i have seen in a long time... I tried to find a stone chip on the front, doesn't seem to be one... is there any stone damage on the rear guards or anywhere for that matter... do you know how many km or miles the car has done... is there any tiny scratches or blemishes that i cant see... the photo's look great... is she running premium unleaded... i do realize you aren't the owner but it's late in perth and i thought you sound like you know the car well... been looking for a nice bug for some time now... made a few offers but on some really nice bugs but nothing as yet has come through... damn those seats look great... kind of reminds me of a old porsche 356. i have seen them in that colour and red leather interior... now just have to get up early in the morning and make the mrs's breakfast in bed... get the washing done before she gets home from work then show her the pictures of this beetle after the dinner i made.....
cheer's

Fossil - September 15th, 2005 at 01:35 PM

Sorry VWFOOL but not making an offer. Only just gotten out of the shit for buying the bay 12 months ago & while there's room in the shed for a sweet beetle as your's is the $$$$ aren't there

VWFOOL - September 15th, 2005 at 06:30 PM

herbsta, as far as im concerned the car is absolutely immaculate. not sure of the other details like mileage but it has been on the streets roughly a year or less?
for all the info please contact Ben the owner by going to the ebay auction and contacting the seller, otherwise u2u me for his mobile if ur seriously interested.

fossil the car is not mine, but i would prefer ppl not coming onto posts and commenting about prices if theyre not even going to make an offer on the car, its just unneccessary.

Fossil - September 16th, 2005 at 12:08 PM

Are you dreaming-that would barely cover the paint and interior.

MickH - September 16th, 2005 at 01:51 PM

Err...LESTER..I don't think that comment is required. If you've got something to say take it to bad attitude or this post might be deleted by the mods..Could you edit your post so this thread is not ruined??

pete wood - September 16th, 2005 at 04:33 PM

That is IMMACULATE

Fossil,
I had this problem when I was trying to sell the buggy. Everyone just sees a VW and thinks it's cheap fun. There's got to be at least 10k worth of custom parts, the motor would have been round 6-7k to build, the paint about the same and the interior is stunning. If you saw a chevy impala, a hot-rod, or an oval for that matter, that was this good, it would be $30k.

Wake up sunshine, I bet whatever you paid for Peter's bay didn't even get close to reflecting the real cost and effort. Custom means expensive. This car's probably underpriced if anything.nn[ Edited on 16-9-2005 by pete wood ]

wrecker67 - September 17th, 2005 at 09:26 AM

i agree the price is a good one,i have painted plenty of cars and to get this result takes heaps of time.....if i had the cash i would buy it,must be hard to part with..
good luck with the sale...
cheers :beer

VWFOOL - September 17th, 2005 at 12:24 PM

thanks guys for the mostly positive comments, Ben didnt ask me to advertise the sale on here but i thought id giv u guys a chance to hav a look at something quite special.
im sure he would appreciate all the kind words, coz ben's like that, a nice guy with a nice ride ;)

Fossil - September 19th, 2005 at 01:09 PM

I do not disgree as to the class of this VW and evidently have stirred a storm in a tea cup - what I was eluding to is that it is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and just like with Peter Keegan's Bay I bought I got a great deal at much under the cost of the full resto + new 2 litre engine & gearbox.
I also wish him well with the sale and if I was in the market for another VW then this one would be top of the list.

VWFOOL - September 19th, 2005 at 03:20 PM

which is why i prefer these comments not to show up in the first place, just easier that way

karmen - September 19th, 2005 at 04:47 PM

foxy_fuchsia - September 25th, 2005 at 10:53 AM

Hey I love this bug, just wondering if those side little mirrors screw into the hinge? And did you use a premade carpet kit for the floor, if you did it looks great and I am possibly thinking of buying one instead of doing it ourselves!
