SOLD - 1966 Beetle (Formerly Ratrod) For Sale - SOLD
Bugs - September 22nd, 2005 at 09:08 PM

Name: Glen
Suburb/Post code: Calwell 2905
Item Description: 1966 VW Beetle
This was the car formerly known as the Klaacksta (Ratrod), built by Jeff Baker and Klaack Motors. Due to the RTA requiring it to have standard Beetle guards on it to make it roadworthy, I have done a lot of work to make it the beautiful Beetle you see here in the photos, details are:
Fresh guards at all corners with red beading;
New running boards with red trimming;
Ford tear drop tail lights;
Custom front bench seat upholstered in the same red vinyl as the rear seat and parcel shelf;
Painted steel wheels with white wall (Flappers) tyres;
Smoothed off dash with iron cross switches;
Custom centre mounted speedo modeled off of the infamous Jim Beam can and the fuel gauge is thanks to Brianna Banks;
Pioneer CD player mounted in the glove box has 4 inch speakers in the kick panel and 6x9 speakers mounted in the parcel shelf;
Custom 'VW666' badge on the engine lid;
Shinny black iron crosses on each of the doors provides a "subtle" contrast to the matt black exterior;
Detailed front beam (Red) and shocks (black & white chequers)
Halogen headlights
The motor is a stock 1600cc twin port
12 Volt conversion
Registered in NSW until end of May 2006

This car gets so much attention, looks cool, goes great and is such a blast to cruise in. I will be sad to see it go, but I have done what I wanted and it's time for the next project. I may be able to deliver the beast to Sydney if needed.

Excuse the photos, the car will be on show at the Canberra German day on Sunday 25 September so I'll have some better pics (and the car will be cleaner) then.

Condition – Awesome and very unique
Item Cost - $4,800
NSW Rego No. QWU 208

Yeah, all the parts would be made available to the buyer, not too much to do to reverse what's been done.

I can't believe the RTA sometimes. I mean it's not like it doesn't have guards on it, they just weren't the standard ones.

hello, does the original wheels and tires come with it ?

Bugs - October 20th, 2005 at 07:53 PM

If you mean standard rims and tyres, no only the spare and the front two are standard, the rear are widened.

That's right guys and gals, I have sold the Rat Rod to Tony and Leanne in Katoomba.

Hope they enjoy it as much as I did.
