Hey guys,
After getting hold of my dream car, I am almost at the stage where I need to sell to get finance for continuing with my renovations. I vowed never to
sell, however the bank manager is closing in on me, and I need to get serious about raising some extra cash.
Basically I am considering selling my 1964 Ghia, along with an almost rust free IRS pan (1 small hole in right hand floorpan). The car was registered
aprox 2 years ago and was running well at that time, and is virtually complete.
There is some rust, mostly in the floorpan (and a few scabby bits which arent too serious) and the replacement floorpan will rectify 95% of the rust
anyway, so it's a great project for someone wanting a KG.
The engine is the original 1500 single carb, and it has front and rear bumpers and just about all of the chrome. The interior is all there but
average, and would suit recovering. Carpets are non-existant.
Anyone who is interested is welcome to check the car out in person to confirm the low amount of rust.
I drove to Adelaide recently to pick up the IRS pan, however the actual car was sourced reasonably locally. I basically want to recover my costs, as I
believe I bought wisely and am offering it all for a very fair price, not wanting to profit from the purchase.
For the complete car and IRS pan (including later front beam, gearbox with driveshafts etc, and rear trailing arms etc but no front disk assembly) I
want $7000 ONO.
I also bought a new set of Radar repro wheels (15 x 5.5 inch) for $849 delivered, but will sell with the car/pan combo for $700.
So all up, I want $7700 for the lot, or $7000 for the car and pan.
I will consider seperating as I have interest in the IRS pan on its own, and am kind of waiting for a decision on the pan, but if anyone is interested
in the car or everything please let me know.
I also have a couple of Subaru EJ22's that I bought, intending to put into the KG, and am selling these also.
I am located in Hughesdale, Melbourne (near Chadstone Shopping Centre) and can be called on 0408 137 017
Some pics to follow.
Cheers,
Steve
PS, please contain any negative comments about this sale. It's a genuine sale for a genuine reason, and the buyer will end up with a great project
that is well worthwhile.

first pic
another pic
and another
and another
some more to come
still more
and more
yet another
few more
a shot of the pan..mainly surface rust...just one small hole in RHS pan towards rear
another shot of the pan
last shot for now..front beam...solid all round but needs clean up
Price drop...$6750 for the car and pan, or $7450 with the Radars. If you are also interested in the Suby engines, make it an even 8 grand and take it all away!
Another price drop...$6500 gets the car with extra IRS pan in good nick. (I'm already losing a fair bit of money at this price, and this price is
firm. I need the space but will arrange for storage if there are no takers, or will try ebay and see how I go) If anyone is interested in the other
parts (wheels, Suby engines) these can be negotiated also.
I'm suprised that there isnt much interest in this car. Apart from the floor there is not much rust at all, and with the IRS pan the rust repair
becomes alot easier, and you've got a great project on your hands. Car is also an Aust delivered RHD, so there's no worries about converting.
Im interested at this stage, but have no mechanica or resto knowledge. First impressions, this looks tidy but there seems to be a fair bit to do to it still. Could you give me a ball park estimate for the amount of work that remains to be done to get this on the road, and secondly, if I paid you, would you do it for me. Im looking for a kombi at the moment, but Ive seen a few of these around and Ive developed an interest. Im in East Brunswick, which isn’t a million miles away, so if you can give me an indication, of level of work/cost (estimate) I may have a look in the next few days
good luck with the sale - looks pretty good from where I'm standing! If it's really as solid as you say it is, that's a very good price IMO..
Yeah OT...it's a pretty solid car at a good price, which I hate selling however the house must take priority.
Sponger, I'm afraid I cant give you an accurate cost for a resto. If you were able to strip and reassemble the thing, outsourcing the trickier bits
such as welding etc, you might get away with an extra 3-5 grand but if you had someone to do the lot you'd probably be looking at 10 grand or so I'd
reckon (or more, depending on what level of finish you were after). As for me doing the resto, I'm afraid I dont have the time at the moment (due to
house reno's) or I'd be doing it rather than selling.
This car is a great project for someone, but no resto is going to be cheap.
Thanks for that mate, Ill have to give it a skip unfortunately - best of luck with the sale
No probs mate
Man I got to stop looking in this section - like you I have house reno/mortgage restrictions....but it is so tempting! Great price.
mate it would be wrong of me to encourage you to buy it, because we are in a similar situation but,
BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT...go on you know you want to!
Another price drop...$6400 gets the car and extra IRS pan.
C'mon guys...someone must be chasing a decent resto project!
If it drops to 5k I may be interested for the wife.
Good luck with the sale
I've been offered 6 grand, however I am already losing a grand at $6400 and I cant really go much lower, but thanks for your well wishes regardless!
Sold pending payment
thats good stephen sorry i couldnt scrape the cash together if the ute had sold earlier :cry
No probs mate..you can't help it if you're not cashed up. I'll let you know if the sale falls through.
