"Transmission 3 speed Automatic"

I'm surprised anyone would do that much work to a beetle and not change to a four speed!

if you dont mind me asking what is the auto out of originally?

type_one - January 28th, 2006 at 03:10 PM

It's probably one of the three speed semi auto's. Not a full auto. There is still a gear stick there which makes me think this. All you do in a semi auto beetle is change gears. No clutch to push in. Semi auto is factory Vw. Not any after market crap. It should have oil serverse under the back guards that are for the semi auto.

Nice car though.

Nice car!

yes, the car is mechanically original. It is a 'stick shift auto'. Factory fitted, you put your hand on the gear stick and it engages a vaccum clutch that allows you to change gears. It was invented by the Germans to assist war veterans with only 1 leg.

can you guys point me to any other aussie forums i can advertise on where bugged buggers might check out my bug?

Some Sydney sites would be:
http://www.kruizinwagon.com.au/classifieds.asp
http://www.clubvw.org.au/  in the For Sales section
But I suggest you try some Victorian Volkswagen clubs first.
