BenettonVW - March 1st, 2006 at 05:59 PM

**Selling for a friends Mum - Deceased Estate**

For Sale: 1968 Bay Window Kombi.

Very nice bus. Belonged to my mates grandfather, who loved it dearly, probably more than life itself. He called it his 'Blue girl', and he drove it everywhere. He had it resprayed a few years ago, and to say this bus has been looked after would be an understatement. A prime example of this would be the fact that he had the awning/annexe made for it but died suddenly before it was finished, and never got to see it. I'm not usually a fan of those sorts of things, but that one is very well made - pity he didn't see it. Still cost him $1200.

From what I can tell it is a 1600, but he had a Gregorys VW manual on the back seat which detailed the 1800 - 2000.. So not sure on that one, but it is single carb, so..
Interior is fantastic, and all original, with only a couple of minor tears in nearly 40 years. It seems to be an 8 seater so I don't know how rare or common that is. He has made a few mods, such as a pretty new Panasonic CD player with remote, and speakers, an auxillary battery setup, bullbar etc. Most of it is stock.

I will try to find the pic of it I took a few years ago when I saw it at Hanging Rock one year. It is starting to get a little chalky from sitting in the sun, but with a days attention paid to the paint, it would come up a treat... I have seen it happen. Starts and goes well. All is good, with virtually no rust. Rust can be shown later..

As I said, I am selling it for my mates mother(her fathers bus) and I will try to answer any questions, but she may also know the answers. Car will be sold at this stage without a RWC or rego, as it has just lapsed now, but it would be all easy enough. Tyres etc, good and in roadworthy condition.

** NEW PRICE - $6500 **

Sorry Terry.
The price is starting at $6500, as it really is in good condition, and one of the very early ones, with wide 5 stud pattern and all that as you know. If I was to get a Bay, a 68/69 would be the way to go.
Here's some more pics! Feel free to ask any questions.

If it has red and black interior with the white dash it is a rare microbus these days indeed.
Would have had lotus white paint before respray, rarer than splitscreens nearly.

I think it was originally white, but not sure.

Bump.
