NEW Bay twin cab -Interest
alansvw - May 7th, 2006 at 03:03 PM

Time has got to me , and my Ghia awaits. I'm very seriously thinking to sell my treasure. Found this Twincab still in crate. Needs suspension( late bay rear & 68 front end) and. engine. I had Powertune Engineering source the correct model gearbox from the USA , again a NEW unit.Cost for gearbox $3500 I have addded chrome bits and pieces but have original parts .Yes it is LHD but I'm told easy to convert, but has a LHD steering box fitted. There is damage to the roof where some idot stood on it, my panel beater has checked and is re-pairable..Thinking to sell for around $14,000-without gearbox or $17,000 with gearbox

Hi

Try H & M Ferman (02) 9533 2722, they also have new old Beetles as well.

HI guys, the story is that I needed some type of twin cab for my work , but being a VW nut, I have a Red 74 L BuG 2276cc as my daily driver and a ghia under construction that will blow you away. So deciding that it had to be a VW twincab was easy, the problem was finding one in the condition I needed. I rang all the usual people , watched the forums and out of the blue Adrian from Powertune Engineering in Sydney rang me to say he had something I may be interested in. Photos were sent and the deal done. The hard part was transporting it without suspension. Again Adrian came to my rescue and made up an axle from some steel pipe and attached the wheels. The work then started in researching what was needed as no part can be assumed to fit as it is made from parts from 68 on.We were really lucky to find the gearbox, other parts are much easier to locate. I would complete the twincab but my business has taken up a lot of my time and the work left..fitting the suspension etc is hands on.

It was made in Brazil in 1986, according to all the paperwork found in glovebox.
