Thanks Doc....that's not a bad idea, although I don't think she'll be mine by that time.

gday brad,
how much to do for roadworthy?
thanks rob.

65busser - October 11th, 2006 at 09:39 PM

Hi Rob,
Had it roadworthy checked by my VW guy. Basically brakes and rubber stuff 'cos the car has sat in the one spot for six years.
So pretty much what you'd expect and what you'd do anyway with a car that has been out of circulation.

Brakes - Cylinders and brake lines.
Front end - tie rod ends, bushes etc.
Tyres - still wearing crossplys, so needs 4
Usual minor stuff like washer nozzle blocked, brake and clutch pedal pads, handbrake cable.
Minor rust, but not structural and easy fix. Got pics.

I'll email a copy of the report if you like. It's on my puter at work so I'll have to do it tomorrow. u2u email address if youd like it sent.
Cheers
Brad

handycam - October 13th, 2006 at 08:00 PM

dose it drive mate ????

65busser - October 13th, 2006 at 11:32 PM

Sure does. Starts first time. I was telling Rob, (above), I was driving her back from Matts' place (Micromatt), and she was loving it. We had just woken her up after a six year sleep. Had a grin from ear to ear as we got up to speed. We then crossed a railway crossing and the ol' tie rod ends woke up and went into shock. She got the wobbles up until I slowed down but was fine after that, as long as I kept the speed down.
She's a good honest ol girl.

Hey Rob. I hope she returns to her former glory without any fuss. Really look forward to seeing the progress. Glad you finally found your way out of sunny Melberg. Traffic wasn't that bad was it!
You've got to come down for the Day of. You'd love it. Lots of like minded lunatics!!
