PRICE HAS BEEN REDUCED TO $9000 ono - absolute bargain folks, it has to go hence the bargain price!
Well after many many months of hard work, time, and a fair amount of $....the beetle is finally finished.
Name – Alan Agyik
Location - Gold Coast, QLD
Condition – See pictures - fully restored registered today (Oct31)
Item Cost - Well it seems that my estimates of value were too high which is surprising considering the dollars, time and work involved....I am now
open to reasonable offers. I have ~$8000 worth of receipts (those that I kept) so I'd appreciate reasonable offers.

At the risk of sounding pretentious, I figure that most of you would have seen my ragtop resto at some stage (I posted enough bloody pics of
it!)....it is on the cover of the current issue of VWMA ( http://www.vwma.net.au ). This
resto followed on from the ragtop (it's 1970 pan ended up under the rag....so I found a 66 to go under the 70 body).
Okay, to keep this as short as possible, go to this thread for a blow by blow rundown on the restoration:

or just view all the pics at:

I'll post some pics and add the info as I go:

To ensure all potential buyers know what they are getting, the beetle has been fully restored using a combination of new and near new parts....
eg 1. the interior is not brand new but the person I bought it from never had it in a car after it was retrimmed - it sat collecting dust etc but is
in remarkably good condition (just not brand new).
eg 2. the engine is not brand new but the 1600 twin port is very solid and reliable and runs extremely well (feel free to do a compression test if you
really feel the need). It has been fully detailed.
eg 3. the paint is not brand new - in fact it was painted quite a few years ago but then sat in my mate's shed as an unfinished project (never saw
the weather once). I scratched the front right and left rear guards during transport so they have been repainted in two pack as per the original paint
job. It is not new but in extremely good condition....I think the picture below sums up its quality:
This is a picture of the rear quarter panel and drivers door after a cut and polish.

Pan is from a 66 beetle originally from the Uk - I replaced the drivers side half, but the passenger side didn't need any repairs. The pan was
stripped before Rust Bullet paint was applied. A detailed (two pack) b/j front beam was installed (with adjusters) and a detailed 1300 gearbox was
bolted in place (again not brand new but was rebuilt not all that long ago - nice and tight and again I can't fault it).

New tranny mounts, new shift coupler, new axle boots, rear axle seals etc etc:

Brakes are four wheel drums in wide 5 (not too common for ball joint beetles in oz). All drums were machined along with new shoes to match, plus new
wheel cylinders. All moving parts have received some copper lube to aid adjustment and ensure a long life of smooth operation.

New dual circuit master cylinder was installed along with new hard lines too all four corners:

A new Facet electric fuel pump (fused) was bolted to the firewall under the tank (filter pre and post pump) - all new rubber fuel lines of course.
This first pic shows the rubber line connected to the old stock main line....this has been changed since as per below.

8mm steel line (copper coated for rust prevention) replaces the original small diameter main line (ready for a big engine some day):

Another filter at the end of the mail line - better safe than sorry.

New sports steering wheel is very comfy:

Wheels are brand new Empi 5 replicas with new Nankang tyres (145 front and 205/65 rear):

Engine is very healthy and reliable 1600 - for a stock engine it has enough poke

This pic is a bit out of focus but it gives you a good idea of the stance and overall feel of the beetle:

Wiring is a mix of new and old (using the stock main loom with additions/corrections) plus new blade style fuses:

Seats are comfy (no vinyl makes it more comfy in these hot sticky days!)

You probably already have spotted them, but some mods include one piece windows, dechromed body, smoothed custom dash, semaphores in front quarters
(not currently connected)....that's about it. Feel free to ask any questions.
Can't see the pics or get ot the link :duh
You dickhead - you photographed a brick wall when you were supposed to be shooting the door of your car
good luck with the sale. another fine job.
Cheers guys :blush

Luck with the sale Alan, its worth every cent and were I in the market I'd jump at it.
Your work is always an inspiration to me - I see your cars and think, well, thats how I should have done things.....
I also sat looking at the brick wall photo until I re read the comment and worked out what you had photographed......
Well, I guess a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
As noted above I have receipts totalling around $8000 (not to mention those I didn't keep).....I am now open to offers as I have no time to drive and
enjoy the beetle and want to see it go to a good home.
Feel free to email or U2U me a reasonable offer.
Cheers
Alan

Alan, try http://www.carsales.com.au. I have found most AVDubbers, like myself,
are looking for bargains, or even something to put their own blood, sweat and tears into. I think your car would be perfect for someone new to VWs,
that wanted the complete package. I m sure who ever ends up with it wil be stoked, and as usual the workmanship is a credit to you.
Wayne.
Cheers Wayne - I'm a step ahead of ya - been up on carsales for a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the kind words.
Alan
Good luck!!
I wish i had the money
I did the same, thought you were trying to be artistic and take a photo of the shadow on the brick wall......
