Seriously, if you want to install a cooler in it it may be good, but if not, and you just need a new eng. lid, try a repro. part. that's what we got & it's still fine after almost ~20 years. (It does say "Made In Taiwan" but you need to look REALLY closely! No-one has picked it as non-VW. And it doesn't need a broomstick to hold it up.)

lol thanks for the input ace but the boot lid is ok just needs a lil rust fixed at the bottom of it.Where i live there is only 4 vw's that i know of including ours. There is only one that i know of thats got the full fiberglass kit on it and it's a convertable,pity it's going to waste and all rusty but the guy wants $3000 for it.....way outta my price range.I would like to get the whale tail before she goes into the panelbeaters to get the rust and paintwork fixed so it gets done while the car is getting done. When that will be is anybodies guess as the panelbeater has alot of work on and can't get my car in till all the other jobs are finished. I like the look of a whale tail as it makes the car stand out from the rest and i can't stand a car that's just plain if ya know what i mean,i like to go for the wow factor.It's very hard though when ya can't get a job and ya health seems to fail ya just when ya think things are lookin up.Yeah ya might say i'm a bit fussy when it comes to looks but hey i'm a guy..... what the hell did ya expect lol.

tried fibre fab ages ago when i was waiting for the bug to turn up from the Gold Coast.They quoted me $500 or so dollars, and was gunna get it but i wanted to wait till i got the car first,when i finally got the car,getting a whale tail at the time was the last of my concerns as there was alot of work that needed to be fixed first such as the motor which was only running on 2 cylinders when i got it,so i had to buy a parts car to get the parts i needed which used up all the funds i had left over after paying the transportation costs.Not having an income didn't help matters either.so i had to put the whale tail on hold till i got most of the other things fixed first.:cry
