$365 at fibrefab ,, click on vw styling kits

MISS VDUB - December 17th, 2006 at 09:49 PM

Best putting this in the parts section where it belongs, as its a part you're after not a car, and changing the title to wanted, not for sale, as you're not selling anything either...

VW_Gurl - December 18th, 2006 at 11:49 AM

VWCOOL - December 18th, 2006 at 09:43 PM

Darling, you DON'T want a whale tail

MISS VDUB - December 18th, 2006 at 10:37 PM

I think too many people on here tell people what they should and shouldnt be doing, yet as soon as it done to them they kick up a stink! How about you either help someone, or keep useless comments like that to yourself! :puke

VWCOOL - December 19th, 2006 at 07:48 AM

Fair enough, Ash: Before VW Gurl makes a purchase decision, she should know that: Whale tales are heavy so the engine lid won't stay up by itself any more; whale tails often require hinge sections to be mounted to them before installation; they often require extra work (fettling/fitting to car around edges etc) and - of course - painting before fitting: so the $300 price will more likely be $700 by the time it is on the car. Plus *ahem* they look crook, especially without wider wheels and really should simply be left as a bad memory of the 1980s when so many Beetles died a horrible tortured death by having 'full fibreglass body kits' fitted and roofs cut off... :P

But, if you must...

VW_Gurl - December 19th, 2006 at 04:30 PM

thank you i will think about that.

mscabrio - December 19th, 2006 at 07:04 PM

It seems that the whale tail is starting to make a comeback. I remember in the early 90's when I had my first bug I used to drool over a red bug that lived in the same suburb as me, it had a whale tail and massive fat wheels, that is all I ever wanted .......

vwpurplebuggy - December 20th, 2006 at 07:48 PM

No it's not. If it was, all these people selling 'em would be keeping them for their own cars ;)

Hi

They are useful if they serve a purpose. I still have the one of my old yellow bug under the front veranda. It has a bit of history, it was the 3rd one made by Powertune in the 70s and the stock spring also managed to hold it up as well.

I'm fitting a tail to my new bug, but it will have a purpose.

If your interested in let me know.

Steve

Just like the hundreds of other whaletailed victims of the 80's

"Repeat after me... we are ALL individuals..." :dork:

Just ignore me... This post is nothing more than a maliscious troll posted by some prejudiced jerk. :tu:

1303Steve - December 23rd, 2006 at 12:27 PM

Hi

I wonder if in the future will we look back at current trends and scoff?

Steve

Schmoburger - December 23rd, 2006 at 01:23 PM

WHo said anything about the future? I scoff at Subaru motors and artificial rat's and insanely skinny 135 tyres already! :dork:

*Another maliscious troll  *

rite :duh
freaky people.

MISS VDUB - December 23rd, 2006 at 01:49 PM

Schmo, keep your opinions to yourself! I think everyone around here gets the picture you dont like them, so let it drop.

People do cars the way THEY want to do them, because its THEIR car, NOT YOURS! I know im not doing my car to please others because i couldnt give a shit what others think, it's all MINE, i'm the one that's going to be driving it! Everything you have posted is negative Kieran, maybe you do need to get a job as you have way too much time on your hands to bag out what other people want to do!

*Rant over and free bump for the whale tail*

VW_Gurl - December 23rd, 2006 at 05:04 PM

some people can't help themselves they just have to say what they want to say i like i guess. i think something so i say that. do you do that Miss Vdub??

THUDKNUCKLE - December 23rd, 2006 at 06:15 PM

i think its all a matter of oppinion ,, junk to one may be treasue to another :) ita all about what you like and expressing that :)

i had a young feela in a 4wd pull up beside me at a set of lights a while back and look over and ask why would i do that to a vw ( baja it and offroadorise it) cos in his oppinion they all end up looking like "shit" but hey its pride and joy and i love it and love the look of bajas where as some ppl dont ........ same situation in a way :)

I think you should go for it with no regrets if thats what you want and like
