People,
Well the sad day has come for me to sell my 73, which has been my trusty daily driver for the last 3 and a half years. I'm moving to something more
comfortable as I am getting old and soft. But hey, theres still a baja in the shed, so thats ok....
I've dropped the price to $3500 or nearest offer now.
Anyways, specs below and photos to follow;
BODY
No rust, all cut out 4 years ago, including two new pan halves.
Colour is porsche guards Red, and paint condition is fair to good (hey, I gotta be honest). Stone chips on guards, and some other small damage is
all.
I put all new window rubbers and door rubbers in it, but the window scrapers are original still.
Has Jap import celica front bucket seats, and new belts when I built her up.
HAs a panasonic CD player and 6x9's in parcel shelf.
New running boards 18 months ago.
ENGINE
1835cc (69x92) built by Bill at Volkswest
Counterweighted crank, rebushed and balanced stock rods
New P&C's
Whole rotating assembly balanced.
Deep sump
Brand new 044 heads, with 37 x 35 (I think) SS valves, HD springs. No porting on heads.
HSC 2 camshaft.
Twin Kadrons, recently rebushed and carby kit installed, with K&N air filters.
Thunderbird 1 5/8" extractors
GEARBOX
SSP IRS, rebuilt by Chris at Volkswest 4 yrs (~30,000km) ago
New pinion bearing, new reverse gear (~$900 rebuild)
THE REST.....
EMPI 8 spoke mags with 195 65 15's in good nick
KYB gas strut inserts front and KYB gas shocks rear.
Nolathane bushes in front end.
New tie rod ends about 2 yrs ago.
New front discs about 2 yrs ago, pads of same vintage.
Good 2nd hand drums on rear.
New rear wheel bearings about 2 yrs ago.
SAAS sports steering wheel.
Regularly serviced by Kurt at Vee Dub Repairs and spares. If you are intersted I can probably chase up most of the receipts for work done.
Its a well sorted, very reliable great daily driver and I will be very sad to see it go. I've got a set of professionally lowered (not cut) springs
for the front struts which can go with it too.
Either U2U me, post, or call me on 041359 7035 (or 9419 9516) to talk.

bump again...
Hi
Is this the same car in your avatar?
Steve
Yes. Those pics were taken at a VW club of WA autokhana near york a couple of years ago, before I put the running boards on.
IIRC you won that year Doug
Yep. fantastic day out. I drove the bug into work today for the first time in two weeks (have been driving my cushy comfy Cressida ) and loved it.
I'll sure miss it when its gone, but I just cant keep it.
Hi
The pictures in your avatar might put people off. Its nice looking car as well.
Steve
Wish you were in Sydney! Rats.

Yeah Steve, I had thought about changing the avatar, but I like to be as upfront with people as I can - and its surely not the only car on this forum
thats attended the odd club motorsport event.
Appreciate your comment though.

Hey Doug. Let's get serious.
How hard would you think NSW registration would be? Do you have any engineering reports for the hard work you have done?
And freight to Sydney? I would assume around $400?
Hope to hear from you.
Ciao
