Must be a sad day to part with the rag.
:o
Minister for finance, leave passes and internal affairs says nooooooo
kkk
I've said it before and I'll say it again - BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY!
Of course I am a little biased but even not factoring in labour at all (2 1/2 years of it), parts alone are well over double the asking price. Now I
know it's hard to come up with this sort of cash, but consider the fact that if you tried to build something like this from scratch, expect about
$40-50K in parts and consumables (some examples - front speakers $1K, amp $800, brakes $2.5K (landed), chrome plating bumpers $360 each etc etc
etc).
Having had a quick spin in the rag in its current guise (fuchs and 2110) all I can say is that it is bloody fun and handles great.
Best of luck with the sale Damo - hope the new owner treats it as well as you did!
Alan
would you sell without the engine?
nice ride man, love those Fuchs rims, no offence to the other wheels, but old skool is cool good luck with it
Looks just as sweet with the Fuchs

tempting
If it's got Vanrex's engine in it take the lot as that engine is simply awesome and compliments Al's ragtop

why leave a phone number if its always off?
nick
demon you have u2u
Do it Craig - you know you want it :P
Seriously though - if you were to buy it for $20K with engine and you had another engine you'd want to slot in, you'll be able to recoup a good
chunk by selling vanrex's 2110 which is in it at the moment as the guys above are right - it is a really strong healthy engine.
All of a sudden a $20K beetle which has had $40K plus spent on it turns into a $16K bargain if you sell the engine as turn key.
Just food for thought - I wish I had the money I'd buy it back! But alas I'd still have it in the first place if I didn't need the cash for the
business.
Good luck
Alan
Oh Damo - if only I could get a loan (unfortunately the bank won't give us any more money!).
Just another few snippets for anyone thinking of embarking on a resto of this calibre on their own....
- gearbox $1600+
- 17in wheels and falken tyres $2400
- interior upholstery $2500+
- braided lines and AN fittings $500+
- wiring $800+ (watson kit plus other fittings etc)
- car audio wiring and connections $400+
- popouts $500
- ragtop $600 (plus a lot of labour)
- paint materials alone $1800+ (plus many months of labour)
- narrowed beam $500
- dropped spindles $400ish
- autometer guages $600+
- Berg shifter $350
- Holley blue pump $190ish
- 2 x Petersen billet filters with AN fittings $100 each
That is just off the top of my head - factor in the rest of the rechroming (all show quality), all new rubber seals, new windscreen and so many other
bits and pieces that racked up the $.
C'mon Craig - surely you can't resist this offer!
Sorry to hijack Damo, I just think its good to get some perspective as to how much the "little things" can add up to.
I know not too many people have $15-20K laying around (I know I don't)....but this is one of those occasions where someone has to do what they have
to do to save themselves $30K on the restoration process!
Alan
do I really need another VW.............???
yeeeeaaaah.....
No.. Buy my renault fuego..

just a thought after having read the resto a few times that this car would definatly fetch 25k+ in unique car magazine ppl there have money and are willing to part with it for quality cars like this one:thumb
WTF!
I still can't fathom why this has not sold.
Maybe at the Pub, someone will see the light and buy it.
What do you have to do.......slap people in the face,.......hello, slap slap slap.
Bazzare! if it were a splitty it'd be gone.
Good luck Damo - hope it all goes well!
Hi Damon I noticed you were consideringparting out the engine... If so please call Nick on the u2u
Hi guys is this still for sale ?
No,off the market. It's too good to sell for that cheap,so I'm keeping it.
if you don't need the dollars then you should keep it...................................otherwise its only worth what the market will pay
Keep it
so how much to make u sell ?
That's right Craig, and if nobody has any cash at the moment then it won't sell, you can't make people buy things!!!If somebody really wants it they
can make me an offer I can't refuse...
:PCheers
Damo
very few on this forum want to part with cash. i think whilst its all well and good to post on the forum, if you were serious then you would try
carsales or unique cars etc.
sound decision keeping a hold of it
