[FS - SA] EBAY - Split Kombi Tower - Ex RAAF 67 double door panel

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Split-Kombi-Tower-Ex-RAAF-67-double-door-panel_W0QQite...

I know this has been around for a while but at $15,000 is this a real bargain? Replace the roof section and take care of the body and mechanicals described in the listing and -away you go!

I see rusted old split bodies going on eBay for 2 or 3K and look as though another 20K needs to be spent to restore.

I am not a split fan, but can anyone else in Kombiland see the absolute bargain here? Or am I just naive??

Replace the WHAT?

Its a double door, therefore interesting. Aircraft inspection holes are cool. We all love this bus on DSK. It is a cracking price. Donor roof sections are not hard to get. fixing the lid aint as scary as fixing the chassis. 15k is more than fair for this I reckon.

Its a DD panel van!

I don't think people get the value of this bus. It is genuinely very RARE. And others on here will tell you how sparingly I use that word. Let me say it again, this is a VERY RARE bus. It is a collectors Item. It's probably the only surviving one of it's type in Oz. And that's assuming there were others made. Yanks and Euros would pay a lot more for this sort of thing. At a vintage bus meet or bad camberg, this car would get lots of attention. So yes it's more than worth $15k. I'm sort of surprised he hasn't tried to sell it overseas actually, he'd get double what he's asking currently.

This belongs in a museum somewhere!!! As Pete Wood said this is a very rare piece of machinery and should not be tampered with. This thing could be sold to the poms for about twenty thousand pounds (that is right, pounds) so yes it is cheap at $15k.

Cheers

Ian.

There is another sitting in a yard somewhere in the territory.. There is a similar one in WA also but I think only with plexiglass roof (collecting para's).. A lot of research (inc anecdotes) was done on this a few years back.. Definately a piece of history..

no offence to the poms (they have enough aussie assembled German steel over there) but could we PLEASE keep this one here...whatever the value and price he gets?. Good luck with your sale mate, hope you get what you are seeking.

that's why it's so cheap. he's doing us all a big favour. surely one of the torrens brother should by this, they own everything else it seems.

mmm, actually, I've love to see Craig do a hill climb in it. :P
