Hi Mick,

congratulations on owning the VW I always wanted to own since seeing two of them in Newcastle back around 1970 approx...
both had the four doors...
a 4 door air cooled VW.... Yes...

I do prefer the look of the 412 with the lower twin headlamp treatment....

The 411 and 412s are two of the rarest VWs...
very few left anywhere....

they were sold in New guinea and New Zealand...
so why not here??

cheers

these always remind me of my parents ol renault T16. learnt to drive in that deluxe 4 door hatch.

68AutoBug - February 20th, 2007 at 02:58 PM

did you know the Renault R16TS had two different wheel
bases??

the torsion bars at the rear were side by side, so one wheel was approx 50mm more rearwards than the other one...
never heard of another car with two wheel bases
LHS & RHS....

Bloody French engineers, i work on gas turbine engines designed by french canadians, some things are brilliant and others are damn right pathetic, just look at the renault megaine, damn ugly car.
