[SOLD] '55 oval on IRS/balljoint 'pan [SOLD]
Cam - April 25th, 2007 at 05:11 PM

Hi everyone,

Just looking to guage some interest in my '55 oval window beetle body. *now sold*

I purchased this about a year ago with the intention of putting it on a pretty wild 'pan (was on a 1500 item at the time) and havent since had a chance to touch it so am thinking about perhaps doing the right thing and giving someone else the opportunity to restore her.

It's complete with all the fiddly little things that make an oval correct -incl: tail lights, semaphores, flat badge bonnet, correct front guards, etc, etc, etc...

It has some rust in the bottom of the A pillars and base of the heater channels, you will also have to sus out some bumpers since all the early ones I've seen at swapmeets are crap so was intending to just go with new ones. Other than this its dead straight and an easy enough resto for someone with the time and/or $$$

It has cost me all up $1800 to get it and all the correct oval bits and would like to get that back. If I can't I'll just plan to hang onto it.

Cheers,
Cam

but am fully stocked atmo, sos

Cam - May 4th, 2007 at 04:37 PM

Thanks bushed! No engine or 'box, I have heaps of interiors bits and pieces for this car - will grab more pics soon. Would also rather sell the car and parts as a whole. 1800 seems like a bargain to me and under what I paid for it all.

May also consider partial trade for an early type 3 - contact me for details.

Dasdubber - May 4th, 2007 at 08:13 PM

That is a bargain mate - good luck with the sale! How awesome would it look as a drag car with that patina :)

retroresto - May 5th, 2007 at 09:53 PM

Cam, should of bought my 54! would of been easier, lots of work ahead if you decide to keep it!

Cam - May 12th, 2007 at 09:51 PM

Thanks mate! The doors are different to the '54's.

Will accept $1200 for the lot.

Craig Torrens - May 13th, 2007 at 09:29 AM

I thought 55's had the same doors as the 54, the ones with the raised lip inside ?

Good price, I'm amazed this project car hasn't sold !

Cam - May 13th, 2007 at 09:33 AM

I know the ones you mean Craig, that also have the two rubber door stops on the B door and respective indents on the B pillars. This car does not.

I was told it was a late '55 so am just passing on what I know, either way tho its an oval and a freaking cheap one at that. Cheers :bounce

Craig Torrens - May 13th, 2007 at 10:01 AM

Looks solid as well..............time for ebay ??

Cam - May 13th, 2007 at 02:08 PM

It has some rust in the sills but all the 1/4's are dead straight which more than makes up for it... Me thinks it nearly is.

Cam - May 17th, 2007 at 06:08 PM

One more bump before ebay. $1200 firm all incl. Or 500 for bare shell on semi auto pan.
