Sold to a new and fellow AVD'r

Fair bit of progress today see pics further down the post - Paul

Guys I am considering selling my 1969 squareback. Most of you will know this is arguably the pick of the Type 3s. Old style body with disc frront end, IRS and twin port 1600.

It's in Brunswick and my number is 0419556632 or unionst@optusnet.com.au

I am currently putting it all back together and have decided to sell and focus on my early bay. I was originally building the Type 3 as a daily driver but my needs have changed. ie Work provides me with a fully serviced and fueled car. I have one shed and 4 cars.

Not sure what it's worth, thinking around $4500 but will listen to sensible offers and advice. No stupid offers or time wasting please. I'll post some pics when I can find them or get some more on the weekend. u2u me if you want more or better resolution.

Below is a description. If you interested please u2u me. It won't be registered but it will be ready for or close to RWC.

Register it, Lower it, Drive it

Body:
It's pretty straight and has no rust anymore - I have replaced or repaired any that there was. The front guards have been completely restored and any other small areas repaired. The pan is strong and had no rust to start with. Everything has been rust bulleted or killrusted or both. Has all the right chrome strips and badges

Paint:
I have colour matched the repairs - it is not concourse by any means but I was looking for an original feel - the rest of it is pretty tidy. Depends which way you want to go with it - rat or restored?

Interior
The interior is black clean and tidy and original. I have cleaned and repaired anything that is required. New seat runners, dash is cracked but OK. No speaker holes.
No carpet at this stage but that can be sorted if required or you could get Brad to sort you a flash german square weave job. Headlining is perfect.

Mechanicals
Twin port 1600 - 009 dizzy, brand new extractors and muffler, good compression (i have the readings somewhere). Brakes (front discs), wheel bearings, front end etc all good.

Manual

Wheels and Tyres
Gold Bathurst Globes with roadworthy tyres.

Other:
There is a number of new rubbers throughout - the rest are pretty good. New pedal rubbers and handbrake/heater rubber
Has all the mirrors, decent rubber mat in the back, ashtrays etc. I think I have found anything that was missing.
It is a German made one

Anything else just ask ?
Cheers Paul

This is not from QLD is it? Before you I mean?

If it is truly rust free with all the chrome the and the engine is half decent AND you put it back together, then $4500 could be reasonable, more pics please!:thumb

Is this a manual or auto??

paulr - June 5th, 2007 at 09:21 AM

No not from QL, I bought it off Stephen James last year stripped all the panels off, repaired all the rust properly (took me ages), rust bulleted and painted, fixed a whole heap of things.

It will be sold as a complete and running car - I was losing enthusiansm and needed to get a push along to put it together - getting to excited about getting the bus on the road.

oh it is a manual

What does it need ? Carpet - that's all I reckon, other than some cool accessories. I do have a set of plished Empi 8's for it but theyare a separate thing. The Globes look OK and have decent tyres

Will get better pics this weekend

Hey Paul,

Sorry to see you're moving the car on, but looks like you've done a great job. I'd buy it back off you if I had the space and money, and as you say it's the pick of the 3's in my opinion and not many around.

A good, solid car at a reasonable price...shouldn't take you long to sell her mate. Best of luck with the sale.

Thanks Steve
I am only selling her because I bought a bus and want to put some cash into it. Got some interest so I am sure it will go to a good home
