When I had it, it had only ever been owned by an old polish fellow from new, then was handed to our family when he could no longer drive, my brother
drove it for a few years, then I took over and did the resto over a few years whilst driving it.

looks unloved ..................where did the stripe go ?? Alan was it
painted on or a sticker?
Still one of my faves ever.....superb, seems cheap!
I remember going to dubs by the pub on my first ever trip to OZ. This grab'd my attention back then. Shame it's lost the strip and the visor !!!
Still it is a real nice car. Guess wouldn't take much to return to former glory !!

i remember seeing this car a few years back - alan might remember i u2u'd him saying "it was a sad day" as the car we all remember in its former
glory was just run into the ground and not well looked after - the orange strips were tearing, dings here and there, paint scuffs etc etc.
buy it back alan

Thats a shame if they have let it go. I have been pondering the thought of it i must admit..........
maybe craig is interested ? lol

I was thinking about it............then the wife gave me a frown.
Happy wife, happy life !
Hehehe.....yep stripes and 76 logos were all vinyl.
This car has a lot of history to our family and although I'd like to buy it and re-restore it, I have neither the cash nor the space, nor the heart
to start on it again - I've moved on!
If anyone is genuinely interested, feel free to u2u me re. any areas to look out for etc.

did it sell.. now its a new beetle in that advert link yeah..? anyone know what happened to this great ride?
Did anyone on here buy this and are returning it to it's former glory ?
A loverly couple from North East Tasmania have bought it and are restoring her to her former glory.
Nice. glad it didn't just die away. Tell to get on ere and post some pics for all to see.
Cool, let me know if the new owners want any details on the beetle.
It was bought new in 1963 by our family friend Leopold Klarer (an old polish fellow who lost his family in WWII and my dad took care of him/his house
etc as he lived across the street from us). He kept using it until he was too old to drive then past it down to our family (my brother used it for uni
for a few years before handing it down to me). It is a great little car but certainly not perfect - when I had it there was no rust issues, however it
had been hit in the front when the old fella had it, and was hit hard in the drivers side when my brother had it (hence why drivers side front quarter
is probably the worst part of the car).
no idea what further deterioration happened when the young fella bought it from me years ago, but I know quite a few friends saw it broked down on the
freeway several times so I dare say he might not have took such good care of it
